Erika Rae Scheideman

Erika was my second attorney during my divorce, which was not easy and lasted several years to resolve. She is very knowledgeable, well prepared, and is familiar with anticipating the Judge. I really got the feeling that she truly wants the best outcome and to resolve the situation with the best out...come as quickly as possible so as not to burn through my money needlessly by "fighting" with the other side and filing needless filings. She even was very amicable and professional to my X, who, also an attorney, was pleasantly surprised. I went from essentially no custody of my children to practically sole custody. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. And she's a nice person boot, making an already emotionally challenging and difficult situation, bearable. She is not inexpensive, rather she is worth it. I'm sure I would have paid much more for someone not as skilled, who just wanted to keep things going with the other side, instead of resolving things quickly and efficiently, while keeping my best interest in mind.

I needed to begin the very cumbersome process of terminating paternal parental rights/obtaining full legal and sole custody of my daughter. I did a bunch of research on my own and had a healthy understanding of the laws and practice in California. When I began to look for legal representation I calle...d 10 family law lawyers, 6 from large firms and 4 as referrals. More than HALF didn't even know you could terminate parental rights, a quarter told me it was too hard and to not even try, and the rest gave inappropriate advice to further their own business objectives. My final call was to Erika who was referred to me by a family friend, and was she a breath of fresh air! Not only did she know what I was talking about, she had experience in the matter AND was very matter of fact of the challenges, the opportunities and how she could represent me. I immediately put her on retainer and could not have been happier. She was always responsive, tactful, and just plain good. Her "tell it how it is" approach is refreshing, and when you are paying her a (well deserved) dollar, you want your interactions concise and informative. Erika does just that. When you are going through scary, uncertain, and such daunting matters as your child's well being you have to fully trust in the person representing you. She has been such a blessing that I have refereed her to my network and she has been hired by a friend in another case. I cannot say enough good things about her!
