Emahn Counts

I and several others were defrauded in a mortgage refinance scam. Emahn and his team took the case and successfully sued both the corporation and licensed broker. They kept us informed through out the lengthy proceedings, their charges were very reasonable, by litigation standards, and most importa...ntly, we won. I heartily endorse Emahn Counts and his staff to any one who has need of legal assistance.

I did not have a lot of money but needed to help settle an entry of a sister state judgment against me. I met with him a "free" 30 minute consultation. He did a really good sales job, he said that this was very easy for him to work out an arrangement with the other side and that he would drop his ...retainer in half because I had already done a bunch of work and that is was just a matter of an email or two and a phone call to the other side. After that initial consultation I was called and emailed daily by his assistant until I agreed to hire him. I reiterated several times to him and his assistant how much money I had. They both assured me that I would get an email when he was getting close to the end of my retainer. Well, after writing his first boiler plate letter he had used up the retainer, then proceeded to rack up twice as much billing over the next two weeks before I was told he had used up the retainer. BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER! When I finally received my first statement I noticed that he billed me a "blended rate" of $325 per hour for the phone call with his assistant to get my information before my "free" consult and all the "research" he did before the "free" consult as well. In fact, anyone working at his firm charges a blended rate of $325 no matter what they do in the office. When I sent him emails and called him to ask him about things on my bill and to inquire about the fact that they did not live up to their end of the contract by telling that my retainer was exhausted, I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. I only heard from his billing department saying that that was the bill. Then, even though I had circled the one time charge on my retainer credit card authorization form, he went ahead and charged my card for the balance, including a fee for using a credit card, which is illegal by the way in California. Then he charged my credit card over $250 to close out my account. I have had to go this alone now thanks to him with a lot less money to try to settle my case. Do yourself a favor and ask some other lawyers in the same area of law about him. I did . I just wish I had done it before I hired him . If you want to throw your money away then hire him. His billing is suspect and his lack of client/customer service is beyond reprehensible. I know he has some good reviews and some bad ones. Maybe he did help the people who gave him a great review or maybe they are fake, either way, if you value your money and your time, then is it worth the gamble to find out which Emahn Counts your are going to get? Again, the BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE TWO EMAILS EVER!

Mr Counts is very knowledgable. I feel that he promises results but doesn't deliver what he says. His billing is confusing and excessive. I felt I was being overcharged, even though I never complained and paid his invoices. I don't recommended them because at the beginning he makes you believe he car...es but after a couple months it was obvious that he only cares about $$. Doesn't follow up emails, doesn't give advice to strengthen Case, excessive billing and poor results.

Worst experience every! I found this law firm through the yellow pages and I decided to go in for a free consultation in which I was wrongly informed. He showed up late to our appointment and told me I needed to pay him the retainer fee before he could help me. After going home and speaking to a fe...w people I found out that I could take care of the situation myself and didn't really need a lawyer. I tried to get my money back but was unable to because he told me that he didn't give any refunds. I even went into the office thinking that I would be able to speak to someone in charge but I found out that Emahn Counts only rents a single office and that he doesn't work with anyone in that Pasadena location. I even had the receptionist call him but he refused to answer my phone call telling her that I was no longer a client of his. So long story short I didn't receive any services from him and wasn't able to get my retainer back. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone!
