JOE YOUNG

Joe Young took my retainer and never did a thing for my case. Each time I called his office I would get someone with an attitude telling me they were working on it. They are liars and thieves! I lost my entire retainer when I received an email from Joe Young indicating he was closing his law practice.... I am livid and looking into every possible legal recourse to get my money back and use Young's law license as toilet paper. I just wish I had done some research before being convinced by Handel on the Law that Young was a straight laced lawyer.

BEWARE! Unprofessional - Does NOTHING!

I found Joseph Young's information on Bill Handel's website, assuming since he was an approved attorney, could be trusted and do what he said. He made promises and assured me he could get me damages for my case for a flat fee of $3,500. I had to use my brother's cc to pay his fee. He tried running... the card at midnight and American Express declined the card cause of the time and said it seemed suspicious. That was the first red flag I ignored. It took him and his office three attempts to get his retainer processed on the card and because he claims he was moving into a new office and didn't have his credit card system set up he ran it through his friends business (2nd red flag I ignored). Each time we would talk on the phone I spent the first 5 minutes reminding him I was a client and what he was or should be working on. The last time he left me a message was on July 16, 2013 asking me to call him back and let him know what was going on with my case. Excuse me? You are the attorney!!!! I have called twice since then leaving a message with a woman but no return phone call. I have emailed but they come back with an auto response that he no longer uses email or it comes back with a error not received / invalid. I have contact Bill Handel's office requesting assistance since he was and is still listed on that website as a reputable and trusted attorney. I've also contact the California State Board and was instructed to first send him a certified letter and if he doesn't respond within 10 days OR it is returned to me, to contact their office to move forward. I want my $3,500 dollars back. He has done nothing for me. I hope Bill Handel and his staff will do the right thing assist me with this less than professional attorney and take his contact information off their website so he does not get any more referrals.

Unprofessional, Incompetent, untruthful! Do not retain

FIrst, I want it know I am not basing my complaint on Joe Young not getting the outcome I wanted in my case, it did not get that far. Joe failed to file one item or preform any of the legal work I had retained him for. After having a question about his practices early on he assured me it would all ...be handled by himself personally which did not happen. There are a lot of good lawyers out there he is not one to trust, look at other reviews on this site and yelp, I wish I did before retaining him. Joe Young is a dishonest lawyer, he will promise you that he will perform work on your case personally and passes it off to others or no one at all. He will bill you excessively and not do any legal work you have asked for. THe only personal dealing I had with one of his associates was a young man that was supposed to be court ready; unshaven, frohawk, unpressed cheap suit, and woefully unprepared to deal with the basic challenges of life let alone the dealings in a court of law. Joe left a message I wish I could post the audio of on this site so you could hear the rambling messages he has left me. Just ensure due diligence before dealing with him, I hope that it is an isolated incident however based on other postings I have read it seems that this is just the way Joe Young does business.

Joe Young is unethical, deceptive and crooked.

My law firm hired Joe Young to handle some legal matters in another state on our behalf. Not only did he NEVER appear in court, he had a contract attorney who was not prepared show up on the date of trial after never filing an appearance, never reviewing the file or the answer. Of course we were in... a losing position and had to continue the trial. Afterward, the lawyer revealed she was only a contract lawyer who recently passed the bar and had never handled the type of case she was to try that morning. Afterwards, he sent us a bill for over $10K.

Joe Young is a crooked law firm

Last year, 2008, I hired Mr. Young to handle my DUI. He came to my work, listened to my story, and assured me that he could win my case for me. He always had different "lawyer's" showing up to represent me, never himself, and these people had tattoo's, tennis shoes that looked like they've been worn ...for years, wearing night dinner purses while standing in front of the judge with me by their side. I must have had 4-5 different, proclaimed lawyers, representing me. Also, whenever I felt uncomfortable with something, I would call Mr. Young, and he always was giving me different phone numbers, then other people would answer them saying it wasn't his phone number, and he seemed to be always sick and in the emergency room. Joe wanted $1,800.00 for him to handle my case, and one good thing that came out of it, was he was willing to take payments if I couldn't come up with a large amount. Upfront, I gave him 500.00 to get him started. And at first, he seemed to be very motivating with me. He gave me the impression that he was going to fight for me...well, boys and girls, don't believe for one second! This guy works a "circus" act. What I had to do first was, fire Joe. There was a balance I owed at the time of $250.00. He wasn't concerned on why I was firing him, even though I did send him a letter explaining why, all he cared about was that little $250.00 coming his way. Oh by the way, I never talked to him ever again except for his rude people that always would have different names all the time calling me. I received letters regarding my balance and I sent another back to him, after a while pasted, I received another statement from them. Someone wrote on it, "excused from Joe", but no signature. Now, I received a call yesterday out of nowhere from some woman (ELLEN) that really needs to stop smoking, that is telling me I need to call them TODAY to pay my balance or it's going to collections. Previously, I told Ellen that if they want to attack my credit in these days of hard times for a small amount after being fired for not fighting for me, then they can take me to small claims and I would be more than happy to tell the judge how this "IDIOT" scams innocent people out of money. Besides, I don't think $250.00 will "break" Mr. Young’s pocket. So people, take it from me, DO NOT GIVE THIS GUY A PENNY! He is a scam. By the way, I went out and got a more professional lawyer and WON my case!
