Prior to founding H&S, Nathan Hanning worked at one of the largest Southern California defense firms, where he litigated a variety of insurance defense matters and construction defect cases. Thereafter, Mr. Hanning worked at a prestigious medical malpractice defense firm where he defended healthcare providers in all types of medical malpractice actions.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Hanning graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with degrees in political science and history before earning his juris doctor from Southwestern Law School. During law school, Mr. Hanning served as Managing Editor of the Southwestern Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program, where he competed as an oralist in the Spong tournament, arguing before Justices Joseph P. Albright of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and Cornelia G. Kennedy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. Hanning was named a Wildman Scholar, a Hagman Scholar, and recipient of the Deans Merit Award. He also received two CALI awards for his achievements in Legal Writing and Analysis and Land Use and Planning.
Mr. Hanning has also authored several articles, including Trying Asset/Mortgage Backed Securities Cases: A Practical Guide, Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (2007), and Waking From the American Dream: Expanding Fiduciary Duties to Secondary Lenders Following the Subprime Mortgage Meltdown, Southwestern Law Review (2008).
Mr. Hanning is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice in all California courts.
