Donald Keith Gerber

Mr. Gerber represented me over the course of the last few years in my divorce and child support hearings. He is not your typical attorney that will nickel and dime you for every phone call, email, or letter involving your case. He was professional, courteous and reasonable in his efforts and demands..., being extremely knowledgeable of the laws and how judges tend to lean in the various courts, as to not waste my money, time or efforts in a battle. He is fair and looks out for your best interest, as well as that of any children involved in ones divorce. His friendly staff is respectful of your circumstances and eager to support and help you in anyway they can. His paralegal is also very well-versed in family law having many years of experience and eager to help you along the way. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend Donald Gerber to represent you and your family law matters.

I am mainly writing this review in response to Anonymous' negative review dated June 4, 2018 (he was not the one who hired Mr. Gerber, as he is my lawyer), as I am his ex and would like to point out that, as everyone knows, there are two sides to every story, especially in a divorce case. Of course e...veryone can have their own opinion, but to review someone who is not your own lawyer is definitely suspect and open to judgment. If anything, Mr. Gerber has done everything possible to get our divorce finalized, in order to avoid trials and added costs. He is not the one deliberately delaying our divorce, far from it. He has been practicing law in our area for decades, makes it a point to familiarize himself with how judges tend to rule (as any good lawyer should), and has provided me with sound legal advice throughout this divorce. He is not one of those lawyers who will simply take your money and allow you to pursue a personal vendetta, so if you are looking for that kind of lawyer, keep looking. As other reviewers have already said, he is fair, reasonable, ethical, responsive, cares about his clients, and tough when warranted. I would also like to note that if you have to keep stating in your review that it's "honest", then maybe there's a reason for that. Also, just take a look at my ex's other reviews and you will get a sense of what kind of person he is.

I obtained Gerber to handle my divorce. At first, I was very impressed with his knowledge of the law and was very hopeful and trusting of his words and ability to setttle my divorce in a timely matter. I paid a $50000.00 retainer fee. He filed my case, I received a court case number and thats all he... did for me. Each time I would call to inquire about the update of my case, I was told by his staff that he was on a "High profile case" and couldn't get to my case yet. I'm sorry to say that I waited a year to dump this attorney and find another one. I would never recommend this attorney or his inability of a staff. Gerber was highly recommended by family members but he turned out to be my worst nightmare. Run....run.....from this attorney.

Gerber did not file court papers timely. Always late or omitted. Came to court disheveled & unshaven. His secretary is a crazy nightmare of a woman. Refused to let me speak to him and lied about almost everything. Gerber went to court 3 times and lost BADLY each time. Didn't make good arguments. Used... the excuse that he was caring for his wife -who had a head injury - as a reason he wasn't prepared for court. The Judge admonished him about yelling, talking out of turn, not filing timely, not paying filing fees, and a several other "procedural problems" he created by not doing his job properly. It's in the transcript. When I asked him about it - he lied and blamed a prior paralegal for the mistakes. The man should not be practicing law anymore. He's had it & just seems interested in getting more ugly art for his office. I paid him $3,900 to lose a lot of ground. Went In Pro Per and resolved it in less than 2 months. Gerber said it'd take him 2 years & wanted more money.

Over the last ten years, I have had the privilege of being represented by Mr. Gerber on two separate occasions. The first case was a divorce and the second involved post divorce settlement negotiations on the sale of the family residence. In both cases, Mr Gerber and his assistant Tina impressed... me with their level of honesty, integrity and ethical behavior. From my initial consultation onward, I always felt that Mr. Gerber was truly my advocate and was genuinely concerned with my case and it's outcome. Mr. Gerber and Tina always displayed a high level of professionalism with me. They both took the time to explain my situation objectively, discuss strategies and make sure that I had full understanding of my case. In each case, I was completely satisfied with the results. Mr Gerber used his outstanding negotiation skills and experience to bring about fast resolutions and avoid running up unnecessary fees that would have resulted from drawn out litigation. I have referred friends to Mr Gerber in the past and would continue to do so without hesitation.
