Robert Valdivieso Torres

I have been a civil trial attorney since 1989 and have extensive experience.   Employment wrongful termination and civil rights, including discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims have been the main focus of my practice throughout my career.  I also have extensive experience representing clients in severe personal injury/wrongful death cases, and in business-related litigation. From my office in Torrance, California, I serve clients throughout Los Angeles County and throughout Southern and Northern California. 

I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1986, and Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1989.  I was admitted to the State Bar of California, Federal District Court for the Central District of California, and the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeal in 1989.

From 1989 to 1991, I was an associate attorney in a Century City insurance defense litigation and trial firm representing, individuals, corporations, public entities, and insurance companies in civil litigation.  In 1991, I joined a boutique civil business and tort litigation firm in Torrance, California.  In 1994, I established my own firm, the Law Office of Robert V. Torres.  From 2009 through 2014, I was the Employment Law Department Head and Senior Trial Attorney with The Cochran Firm Los Angeles and the Cochran Firm California, (both successor firms of the noted trial attorney, Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr.).  In January 2015, I reopened my own firm, the Law Office of Robert V. Torres. 

Since 1994, the primary focus of my practice has been Employment Law, though I have extensive experience in personal injury and business litigation as well.  I have represented hundreds of employees in cases involving just about every kind of case of employment discrimination, sexual harassment and race harassment, and wrongful termination, against some of the world's largest corporations and their formidable national and international law firms.  Though most cases ultimately resolve by settlement, I have tried numerous jury trials to verdict and take every case under the assumption that it will go to trial.  In every case, my mission is to obtain the best possible result for my client; So, if a case cannot be settled to my client’s satisfaction, I am always ready, willing and able to take the case to the jury.
