I seldom take the time to write online reviews, but Ms. Estep has had such a profound impact in my life, I felt moved to post these comments. Everyone wants a an attorney who has the skill, tenacity and knowledge to win their case. That's a given. More than that, what I wanted was one with integri...ty, and Ruth has that in spades. She doesn't hold back, does everything that can be done, but she does it with a social grace and lack of mean-spiritedness that is rare and to be admired. I hired Ruth to help my teenage daughter, who was desperate to be free of her abusive father. I wanted my child to be safe and happy, but not at the expense of her integrity, or mine. I wanted to go about it in a way that was fair and honest. I couldn't have been more lucky that fate led me to Ruth. The family court system in California is a labyrinth coated in molasses, and I remain eternally grateful that I wasn't alone in that sticky mess. I am a parent who has been in a family court case for the last two years. We had Ruth Estep assigned to be the minor's counselor of our child. I can only say that what I have experienced of her conduct in court goes beyond belief: she has broken down in court several times complaining of migraine hea...daches, she looses track of court dates, and she does not follow the ethical codes of conduct governing her profession. I could only say that this lawyer has exposed our child and our family to the worst type of representation in the courts. Since I am not alone in this conviction, me and three other parents who also have had her on their cases are filing a formal complaint to the Judiciary Performance, the Attorney General, and our Congressman. We hope you will consider our complaint fully and give it the full attention it deserves in providing information to the public.

I went to Ruth for help with a somewhat uncomplicated divorce/custody. Ruth did not put the correct number of hours in the final agreement. And to make matters worst took my retainer and then in pencil scribbled in the correct number of hours on the final agreement. But 5 minutes before had me sign o...ff that "our" client/lawyer contract was terminated but with another retainer fee would help resolve the issue she had just created by penciling in a change which has created conflict with the opposing attorney. And she actively promoted herself by informing me that if I sent her business she would lower her fees.
