Dan Rodarte has practiced law in California since 1979.  His practice includes all aspects of estate planning, probate and trust administration, special needs trusts, estate and gift tax planning, conservatorship advocacy and administration, advanced health care directives and financial durable powers of attorney.

Born and raised in the greater Los Angeles area, Dan graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz with a double major in Economics and Politics in 1976.  Dan then commenced his legal education at the Harvard University School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1979.  While at Harvard, Dan excelled in the Trial Advocacy Program, assisted low income residents with various litigation matters, and worked with the Legal Division of the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare and with a prominent Boston law firm. “I gave serious consideration to remaining on the East Coast, but three years of New England winters convinced me to return home to sunny California,” Dan reports.

After practicing for many years in national law firms, Dan opened his own law practice in 1995 as the founding member of a small litigation boutique.  In 2005, Dan joined a Santa Monica firm as a partner and continued his transition from primarily a civil litigation practice to an estate planning and probate practice.  Dan’s law practice is now devoted exclusively to estate planning and probate matters.

Mr. Rodarte is admitted to practice in all of the California state courts as well as the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern and Southern Districts of California. Mr. Rodarte is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Trusts & Estates Section of the State Bar of California.  Mr. Rodarte has participated as a grader for state bar examinations on behalf of the Committee of Bar Examiners for the California Bar Association, served as a volunteer Judge Pro Tem and as a volunteer arbitrator with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

I consulted and hired Daniel Rodarte, Esq. for two family legal matters. One was a review of my mother's trust. Mr. Rodarte caught some lapses from a previous update that left me vulnerable as the successor trustee. He quickly remedied the vulnerability in an amendment. The second matter involved administering a very complex Trust/Estate upon the death of a family member. He guided me through the process, highlighting legal and accounting issues, protecting assets, and clarifying confusing elements. He drafted the multiple subtrusts, and associated legal forms needed by beneficiaries residing in different states. Mr. Rodarte's guidance proved invaluable. I found him to have integrity and competency, as well as being easy to communicate with.
