Missed a critical deadline

I hired Shannon years ago for a clear cut case against the state. She filed the paperwork and then when I called to follow up with her, weeks later, she was vague. She asked, "Didn't my staff send you the response . . . . ?" When I told her I hadn't heard or seen anything, she said she would send it ...to me. She never did. This was a very stressful time for me, as I became very sick and was ultimately diagnosed with cancer (certainly from all of the stress from the case), so I didn't persist. I realize now, so many years later, that she missed the deadline, by about 2 weeks, and just dropped my case instead of providing a response (justification) to the state on my behalf. I believe she should have been liable for missing this key deadline, which she should have been well aware of. She is personable and seems capable. If you choose to work with her, I recommend that you make sure she is well aware of any critical deadlines and that all of the proper paperwork is filed on time.

Employment Contract Review & Enforcement

I became a client of Shannon's after selling my business. I remained with the new company on a contract basis in an Executive Level Management position. Before the expiration of the contract, my former partner opted to leave the company which may have left me liable for any responsibilities that we o...therwise would have shared. I was not advised by either my former partner, nor by the company that this was taking place. In consulting with Shannon, and over the course of about two or three months, all issues of any liability were fully waived. Shannon was extremely professional in dealing with the attorneys of the company, and exhibited impressive knowledge of California law when it came to the terms of my contract. She calmly dealt with the other attorneys and always filled me in on any updates regarding her conversations with them. In the process of doing so, she continually made sure that I felt comfortable with the direction we were going. The strength of our position, as she so capably established, put me in a better standing relative to my contract than even the original terms had been. As mentioned, any and all real or potential liabilities were waived. I could not have asked for better results.

Senior Level Executive

Shannon Foley did an excellent job in settling my dispute. We avoided a trial and I was able to receive significant dollars owed in my dispute. Shannon is upfront and realistic about a case and its merit. She is very knowledgeable, experienced and thorough in her approach. Shannon is a tough nego...tiator, but operates honestly and with the highest level of integrity. Through the roller coaster ride back and forth between sides, Shannon was able to provide me confidence and surety as to our strategy for the case, risks involved and ultimately to an acceptable settlement. I highly recommend Shannon and appreciated the opportunity to have her on my side.

Honest and engaged

Although I was not completely pleased, I would recommend Ms. Foley because she was personable, engaged (during the various times we met) and knowledgeable of what to do. She seems to be very ethical and honest. However, she was a bit scattered and was not as responsive as I expected - seemed to do th...ings at the very last minute. Possibly juggling too much? This was concerning when the case had specific time limits. Her hourly rate is high, yet she gives you 100% of her attention during the consultation and follow-up meeting(s). She seemed to understand various aspects of the situation quickly.

"I endorse this lawyer's work. Shannon hired my appellate law firm to defend the $2.95 million verdict she had obtained in the Conney v UC Regents case when the defendant appealed. As a result, I saw firsthand the excellent case she had pulled together and tried through the verdict and new trial motions. Her work was top-notch. I also know that her reputation in the employment law community is excellent. Norman Pine”"
