Peter Vittas

Peter is an experienced litigator who specializes in probate, trust, and estate litigation. Peter handles all kinds of trust and estate cases including trustee breach of fiduciary duty, mismanagement/misappropriation of assets, accountings, trust challenges and contests, undue influence, elder abuse, fraud, beneficiary contests, litigation among beneficiaries and trustees, and probates. In addition, Peter represents and advises trustees for trusts of all sizes - ranging from several hundred thousand dollars to multi-million dollar trusts.

Peter is also experienced in civil litigation matters. His prior areas of practice include business litigation, real estate and property disputes, landlord tenant, life insurance, construction defect, entertainment, RICO, and even appellate work. Peter’s very first case nearly a decade ago was a landlord tenant dispute in which Peter obtained a judgment for treble damages against the landlord for wrongful retention of an $8,000 security deposit. Peter successfully defended against the landlord’s appeal, and in total Peter collected over $33,000 for his clients.

Since this time Peter has achieved numerous other favorable results for his clients. Some examples include an early settlement of a life insurance dispute in which his client received over $800,000 from the insurance company, an elder abuse suit on behalf of an Estate in which the Estate’s beneficiaries received over $400,000 worth of assets from the abuser, a business litigation suit in which Peter was successful in forcing a competing business to retract a negative review of his client’s business, a RICO case in which Peter earned a six figure settlement for his client, numerous suits against former trustees in which the former trustees were forced to repay the trust for their mismanagement or misappropriation, and trust and probate petitions to confirm distributions or for Peter’s clients to receive early distributions.

Peter graduated from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana magna cum laude in the top 15% of his class. Peter has been living and practicing law here in Southern California since 2010. In his free time Peter enjoys basketball, yoga, international soccer tournaments, any activity in the beautiful California sun, and travel.
