Terrible experience representing me and plan to sue him for malpractice

I hired Paul Marks at Neufeld Marks to sue a producer on a movie I was going to produce. Paul in the nearly 2 years he was my attorney rang up thousands and thousands of dollars in sanctions, never did any discovery, or filed any motions at all. None. The only thing he did was file an amended complai...nt 2 or 3 times because if kept getting rejected on a lawsuit already filed by the 1st lawyer I hired who I should have stayed with. When Marks rang up thousands in sanctions he never even told me anything about sanctions until after the judge awarded them. The judge demanded he pay sanctions because we never answered discovery because I never knew discovery existed and I had to answer until after sanctions were awarded. He did such a poor job on my case he never served any discovery, interrogatories, a motion to compel to get any bank statements proving my case. Nothing, zip, zero. In 2 years he did nothing to prove or help my case. It was so bad his own law firm paid the sanctions on his behalf. I lost my lawsuit because of Marks pathetic legal services and I could have proven my case easily by simply getting bank statements. Marks never filed any motions to get bank statements or anything from the defense despite telling me numerous times he would over a nearly 2 year span. He lied to me countless times in phone calls updating me on my case. I went to a couple malpractice lawyers. They agreed to take my case but because the amount I sued for was not in the millions so it was not deemed cost efficient to sue Marks for malpractice. One lawyer said this guy’s work was just awful. Although, I plan to sue him for malpractice representing myself with legal assistance since I can’t get a lawyer to take the case because the dollar figure is to low. I would never ever recommend Paul Marks to anyone or Neufeld Marks.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have had the pleasure of working with Paul in the litigation setting, having worked under him in a jury trial and a bench trial, and of course in the preparation for both cases at Holland & Knight LLP. Paul is an excellent trial lawyer and I believe has earned a reputation as such because of his articulate and personable disposition, his sharp mind, and of course his significant (and often victorious) trial experience. Paul is also a very versatile and devoted trial attorney. Although his experience extends across many areas of the law, it is, in my opinion, his commitment to Public Counsel and to public interest law that is one of the most sincere testaments to his devotion to the law and to serving the needs of his clients. Needless to say, Paul is a pleasure to work with and I would recommend his services to any individual or company seeking a versatile, highly effective trial lawyer."
