While on a trip to Las Vegas, I ended up using one of my friend's timeshares. Lo and behold, I somehow walked out of there with my very own timeshare. That was over 4 years ago and I haven't used nor had any desire to use it since the initial purchase. A friend was given a Christmas gift of 2 nights at a Timeshare Resort. The next morning she was woken up and told she needed to attend a meeting, which she did. At this meeting she identified herself as a woman religious, a Catholic Nun, and informed them she received a small stipend for her Church M...inistry. She was pressured to sign up for a Timeshare. She was told it was for a small monthly fee. Again she stated she received a small monthly stipend for her Church Ministry. Finally, after much pressure she signed a contract. In the summer of the following year she went on a mission trip to another state at was treated to 5 days at this same Timeshare Resort to minister in a soup kitchen to feed the hungry. Again she was woken up early for a mandatory meeting. Again she was pressured to upgrade her Timeshare and purchase a more ownership. Again she identified herself as a woman religious, a Catholic Nun ministering in the Catholic Church receiving a small monthly stipend. Again she signed this second contract. This time they opened a Timeshare Credit Card where payments would be deducted monthly at a very high interest rate. English is not her first language and therefore she did not understand the ramifications. She shared all this with me and we called the Timeshare Resort to attempt to cancel the contract, which was not possible. We called 2 Real Estate Brokers who sell Timeshares and received information as to possibly selling it. I then called a Real Estate Broker friend who researched both agencies and said the BBB showed they were not reliable. My nephew, a lawyer, visited me and I shared with him all the information and gave him copies of the paper work concerning this Timeshare. My nephew recommended the O’Grady Law Firm.
