Eric S. Powers

Mr. Powers is a Chicago native who practices commercial litigation and complex civil litigation with a focus on representation of corporations, businesses and insurance companies. He also practices construction defect litigation and civil rights law.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Powers was a commercial airline pilot with United Airlines. He flew the Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet 700 series (CRJ-700). Mr. Powers was also a flight instructor with one of the preeminent flight schools in the country, and has instructed hundreds of aviation students. 

Mr. Powers attended The Ohio State University, majoring in Aviation and Aircraft Systems. He was a member of Ohio State University’s Flight Team. Mr. Powers decided to transfer his passion for handling the pressure and responsibility of ensuring people’s safety in the sky for the responsibility and honor of advocating for them in the courtroom. Thus, he attended Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law. Mr. Powers was President of Phi Delta Phi International Fraternity, a member of Loyola’s Trial Advocacy Program, and earned the CALI award in Trial Practice Seminar. In his third year of law school, Mr. Powers was admitted to Loyola’s Stuart H. Smith Law Advocacy Program, where he practiced criminal defense in Orleans Parish.

Prior to joining Marquis Aurbach Coffing, Mr. Powers served as a law clerk to the Honorable Timothy C. Williams in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a law clerk, he assisted the judge with a docket of over 2500 complex civil litigation cases and construction defect cases.

 In his spare time, Mr.  Powers is still an avid aviation enthusiast and flies regularly. He also enjoys being active in all sports, and spending time with friends and family.
