Elyse M. Tyrell

Elyse is an outstanding attorney. We hired her in 2012 to handle the settlement of my wife’s mother’s estate. Unfortunately, another beneficiary of the estate was being difficult with the settlement of the estate and the distribution of assets was subsequently delayed. Elyse stepped in to protect my ...wife’s rights and we were highly impressed for multiple reasons. First of all, Elyse is simply a very good attorney who knows her stuff. She is very knowledgeable in the area of probate and trust matters, and this served us well. Secondly, Elyse is tough and committed. She tenaciously followed through on what needed to be done to seek justice in this matter despite the other parties’ attempted delays and excuses; she did not let them get away with any of it. Finally, Elyse’s communication skills and responsiveness are outstanding. She always communicated clearly, very quickly, and in a concise nature to swiftly get to the root of a particular issue. Given the aggressive and highly adversarial nature of the opposing party, her rapid responses and strength of resolve made a huge difference. In the end, justice was served. We were so impressed with Elyse that we have since hired her as our personal trust attorney. She has served us well in the years since and continues to do so to this day.

We had a family member pass away in Nevada and we are from California. We were in the dark as to how to proceed with the will and probate, in another state. After interviewing 3 other attorneys, we selected Elyse because she always responded to our phone calls and email messages. Because she was so responsive to our questions, we knew she took an interest in our case and that we were important. Her retainer was competitive and I am not one to say "what... should be charged." I believe that her engagement terms were competitive. Our case involved a living trust, a medical directive and planning for my mother's (82 years of age) estate, which involved her four (4) children. I have already referred four (4) of my associates to Elyse and they are all self-employed with families. Elyse should be commended for her hard work, excellent communicating skills (always tells you the facts) and she cares for her clients.

During our initial consultation, Ms. Tyrell claimed to be qualified to handle my case. Not true. After giving her a retainer, I asked for an explanation of the legal process. No answer. I asked for legal guidance. None provided. I repeatedly asked for time limits. She said there were none according t...o statutes; she lied. After spending countless hours trying to navigate through 1400+ pages of trust documents I finally posted my concerns on AVVO. The number one response was to hire another attorney, but I was afraid I'd be jumping from the frying pan into the fire (and lose all of my retainer). After 11 months of pleading for legal guidance from her, she ultimately withdrew as my attorney when served with papers from the opposition which required an actual court appearance. What did I get in return for the thousands of dollars she demanded? 100+ pages of email communication where she asked for documents and the opposing counsel responded they'd try to get them. NOT ONCE did she review the trust agreement or any of the supporting documents. Her withdrawal forced me to find a REAL attorney. Fortunately, a response on AVVO guided me to an attorney who was not only REAL, but was REALLY GOOD (Robert Morris of Grant, Morris, and Dodd). Come to find out that her negligence put me on the precipice of being disinherited; Mr. Morris saved not only my inheritance but my sanity as well. I subsequently filed a complaint with Nevada State Bar outlining her incompetency and failure to adequately represent me. After examining the court documents, they concluded that there was no clear and concise evidence of wrong-doing and recommended that I file a fee dispute over the money I flushed down the toilet. Anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one is under extreme stress and vulnerable to exploitation. Ms. Tyrell will not only take advantage of you emotionally, she will rob you blind. Shame on her.
