Jennifer gave me a range of what might happen based on the facts of my case. Nothing was sugar coated but everything was explained in a tactful manner without being overly jarring. All cases have some weakness to them. Jennifer clearly pointed out the weaknesses in my case and carefully explained how they may play out in mediation and/or trial. Jennifer Ruben’s trial preparation is solid and is based on specific planning depending on the facts. She is able to critically assess the best-case narrative in favor of me her client. She created an overriding theme for the judge to follow and she researched relevant case law to deflect the opposing attorney’s counterpoints. Above all, Jennifer is a good listener and observes the judge’s reaction during trial and most importantly, changes the course of her questioning in real time to reflect these observations. Often, you don’t want to retraumatize a spouse and need to ask questions in a sensitive and courteous way without being relentless, which I think my trial judge responded to favorably. Jennifer is able to do this questioning with precision and accuracy in real time to get at the facts of the case which support the narrative she is trying to tell. This is an innate quality of hers which greatly helped me in my divorce trial. Lastly, I am very appreciative and indebted for Jennifer’s representative during the divorce process including mediation and the divorce trial. Her engagement with me, with my spouse, with the opposing attorney, and with the trial judge was always ethical, considerate, thoughtful, and professional. She navigated me through one of the toughest and lowest points in my life with integrity and I will be forever grateful for her guidance. Thank you again Jennifer.
