Don’t be an idiot, call Doug!

Submitted for your entertainment and education at my expense: I was driving home from work as a volunteer (yes I’m retired) when I was T-boned by a lady who admitted that she was playing with her new cell phone. Both cars were totaled and I had the added bonus of having 2 broken ribs and a leg hema...toma. But don’t worry, the driver of the other car walked away without a scratch. Since this is the first accident I have been in with injuries, I figured I could just handle it myself. After all, the “good hands” people gave me a more than fair price for my totaled car in less than one week after the collision. And I remembered eating dinner with my son’s watching something on TV when I said to them “it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out”. My oldest son pointed out, “Dad, you are a rocket scientist”. So I thought this should be easy to settle. Well, nearly 18 months later and putting in more time than I would have done for a missile design review, providing documentation, bills and negotiating, I got a great settlement that ended up costing me money. What? It costs me money to get T-boned and it was 100% the other persons fault? Example, Medical bills $10,000, they settle for $9,500. They say they gave you $2,000 for pain and suffering. But they don’t pay all $10,000 of your medical bills, only $7,500. You settle for $9,500. Sounds good to me, I got $9,500. WRONG, you got nothing and you are out your deductible. Yes, it’s true. Remember, whatever the snakes (that’s the name the insurance company will be called in the remaining body of this review) settlement is, they pay everyone back before you get any money. So then it hit me as clear as a radar range equation - you may be a rocket scientist, but you are NOT A LAWYER! Now the statute of limitations is fast approaching and I need a lawyer (finally I’m getting to the point of the review). I could go with “in a wreck, need a check” ambulance chasing firm, but I don’t need a check since I’m only out my deductible. I want to be treated fairly and I want a lawyer that will get more than $2,000 for pain and suffering for 2 broken ribs and make the snakes pay as much as possible paying their lawyers to defend them. So I did what every retired person does to think, I went to COSTCO to eat free samples and get a hot dog. That was the best move I made. I ran into a friend of mine and I mentioned the dilemma I was in. He recommended a lawyer that could be for me. After I finished my hot dog, I immediately went home and called (here it comes) Doug Levy. After filling him in on all of the details he responded, “You are an idiot!” I can’t disagree with that logic and at that point I knew I found my lawyer. Doug took pity on me. It was him against the snake. Doug did exactly what I wanted, and in the end, the snake’s settlement cost them what I estimate to be 3 times more than the original settlement offer after factoring in the snake’s lawyer fees, medical expert reviewer fees, mediator fees, and the final settlement to me. Needless to say I got more than $2,000 for pain a suffering for 2 broken ribs and the case was settled with less than 1 month before the court case was scheduled. Doug and his paralegal Michael are knowledgeable and will handle your case with attention to detail that will result and a fair settlement with any snakes you might have to deal with. Let’s face it, neither Doug nor I got rich from this law suit, but he handled this case like it was a multi-million dollar one to me. I could not recommend Doug and Michael enough for anyone that needs expert legal assistance. Thanks to Doug, I’m an idiot no more! Well as far as fighting snakes are concerned. My wife may beg to differ. Remember don’t be an idiot, call Doug Levy first if you ever get T-boned.

An international thank you

While spending a few weeks in Scottsdale AZ our rental car was rear-ended while waiting for a red traffic light. Being from a different country is a major challenge when it concerns to deal with the legal issues. After about 8 months of "stonewalling" by the insurance company, we finally decided that... the only way forward was to work with an attorney expert. Just at the right time we came in contact with Douglas Levy. From that moment professionalism set in. Mr. Levy did take sufficient time to explain the road ahead and gave counsel how to move ahead. Bridging legal differences between international laws and put these into perspective is not easy, but Mr. Levy seemingly handled these with expertise. Douglas made himself available for phone consultation even considering a 9 hours time difference. Key words that come to mind describing Mr Douglas Levy are: expertise, attentiveness, integrity, compassionate and humorous. In short: a true professional with a human touch. My wife and I are very grateful for his services.

Thank you, Doug!

I contacted Doug Levy after my children and I were involved in a rear-end collision that totalled my car. My children were shaken but not injured; I, however, experienced some back/neck issues. I was not at fault, but quickly realized that I could not take on the other driver's insurance company on... my own. The other driver admitted fault at the accident sight AND to his insurance company, but that company was not willing to "pay" without a fight. Doug took on this insurance company like a champ, not allowing it to shirk it's responsibilty to cover our medical and auto replacement costs. At the time of mediation (thankfully Doug kept it from getting ugly enough to go to court), I had just had surgery (not accident related) and was very fragile. I was very nervous and not feeling well, yet Doug was patient and kind, reassuring me that everything was going to work out fine with the case and it would be over soon. And so it was...my car was replaced, my medical costs were covered, and I recovered stellarly from both my accident injuries and my surgery. I have called on Doug several times since, seeking referrals for family and friends, as well as with my own questions. Doug has always been generous to give of his time to help people, which I believe to be an excellent quality in an attorney...and a retaining quality as well! Even though my case is closed, I still consider Doug as MY attorney and will not hesitate to call on him should another occasion arise. I HIGHLY recommend Doug Levy!

A lawyer for the lay people

When my 18 wheeler was rear ended by two other 18 wheelers which resulted in a fatality, I was very distraught and did not know where to turn. After contracting Doug Levy I was impressed by his compassion, professionalism and personal attitude towards me. Leaving everything in his capable hands res...ulted in a very satisfactory settlement for my injuries and great peace of mind for me. Doug exuded the confidence I desperately needed at that time and I will always be grateful to him.

My First Perfect Review!

Doug Levy is a lawyer's lawyer! I say this because I am a lawyer and he is mine! Of course he knows the law, better than anyone I know in his areas of expertise. He is also kind, compassionate and practices with the utmost of integrity. I am proud to call Doug my attorney, and my friend. Doug, o...f course, is not perfect. But he is as close to being a perfect an advocate in the areas of PI and medical malpractice as a client could ever hope for! Thank you, Doug, for actually improving the reputation of attorneys in our community.

"Talented, Aggressive, Knowledgeable Litigation Attorney 5.0 stars Posted by DAVID I practiced business law in Silicon Valley for forty years. On many occasions I had to select litigation attorneys to prosecute or defend actions for my business clients. I know the tells of good attorneys and bad ones. I can recognize the ones who know their stuff and the ones who don’t. I met Doug Levy in 2005 when a wealthy Arizona friend needed a litigation attorney, and I went with my friend when he met with Doug whom he eventually hired. In that case Doug rejected the insurance company’s offers and took the matter to binding arbitration where Doug secured an award of $190,000, far higher than any of the insurance company’s settlement offers. Over the ensuing years on many occasions I’ve spent many hours with Doug, and I know his personality, his intelligence, his ethics and his character. If I had to pick the top five litigators I’ve met over my forty years of practice, Doug Levy"

"Candid, smart, hard-working & experienced, Doug Levy is our "go to guy" for Arizona legal matters. Having known him for over a decade, he is always forthright in his answers & able to put us in the right direction. I have also visited his office & he could also be the mayor, he is so popular. He does not waste our time with B.S. and, as a second generation personal injury lawyer, he really understands the important issues deeply. Unlike most "wannabe p.i. lawyers," Doug also puts his money where his mouth is, passionately supporting those groups that help injured victims & disabled workers before the state legislators & on Capitol Hill."

Douglas’s comment:

“Please see my "Client Reviews," which are perfect and kind and wonderful. Please see my "Profile," which clearly responds to this nonsense. This suspension had nothing to do with "unethical" nor illegal conduct as a lawyer, nor as a person. That suspension had to do with being wrongfully accused of engaging in litigation with an "offensive personality." I steadfastly denied those allegations and no one ever appeared...”
