I came to Joshua and Karen after I started my divorce process with another attorney. My case was fairly complicated because of many factors. And the other party and her attorney tried every dirty trick they could. That along with extremely poor performance and advice from my previous attorney had me ...in a bad situation. I started off with almost no time with my kids, and the direction it was headed I was going to loose a lot, if not everything financially. Josh and Karen turned things around very quick for me. They did things I didn't even know where possible. I ended up with exactly what I wanted with my kids. And lost a very minimal amount financially. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for Josh Barreda and his paralegal Karen. When I say he fights like you are family, I mean he takes the details of your case, your feelings, concerns, intentions and learns them like the they are his own. Josh has been my attorney through 2 differ...ent custody disputes years apart (same ex-husbsand and kid). The first time around, he dominated in court, and not only was I able to keep primary custody of my son, but the judge ruled that my ex-husband had to pay the cost of my attorney fees, SCORE! He reminded me all along that my request for attorney's fees was a stretch, it is not usually awarded in custody cases, but Josh got it done!! Fast forward a few years, and my ex-husband has filed another petition to modify custody, parenting time and child support. I immediately called Josh. The situation has been contentious and every time my ex-husband harassed me, my son, my family or my friends, I went right to Josh to let him know what's up. He always responds right away - I tell him I need a Josh Pep talk and he calms me down with his words, and gives me the confidence to keep fighting for what is best for my son. We just had our temporary orders hearing and Josh was a rock-star even though it was virtual and through a computer screen! He called out my ex-husband on every one of his lies and gave me the freedom and guidance to plead my case to the judge in a very small amount of time. We were supposed to get an answer that day, and when we did not, Josh did the right thing by prepping me for the worst case scenario. That is one great thing about him that I haven't found in other lawyers, he won't BS you and tell you what you want to hear - he will tell you his honest opinion based on the facts of the case and how he thought the trial went. So while we waited he stayed in touch with me with reassuring texts, but when the judgement came back in our favor, he texted and called me right away (like 6:45 in the morning) and celebrated right along with me. Those are two of the greatest relief moments of my life that I was able to have thanks to Josh. I just can't say enough about him. The correspondence with Karen Silva has been a breeze, she is so sweet and sends me reminders before things are due, and they write up these amazing documents with very clear & concise instructions when I've been hit with bizarre discovery requests. I was blown away with the way she wrote up my pre-trial statement and response, everything that they produced was written like they were my own words. They managed to capture all of my feelings and convictions into words so there is no doubt my point got across to the judge and opposing counsel. I will always and forever trust him to help me navigate any kind of legal situation that arises (hopefully this is the last one) because he has the perfect mix of talent and compassion.
