Andrew Christian Marcantel

Andrew C. Marcantel is a Partner and Managing Criminal Defense Attorney at The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm, where his practice is devoted exclusively to representing individuals involved in self-defense incidents. Practicing nationwide, Andrew defends clients who are facing criminal investigations and prosecutions arising from self-defense cases, including cases involving firearms, defense of others, stand-your-ground laws, and other self-defense matters.

Andrew has built his career around protecting constitutional rights and ensuring that individuals who lawfully defend themselves receive experienced, aggressive legal representation. Since joining The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm in 2014, he has represented clients in hundreds of criminal matters, including complex felony and federal cases. Today, his practice is focused solely on self-defense law, working alongside a nationally-recognized team that limits its practice to self-defense cases.

His background in philosophy and constitutional law gives him a unique perspective when analyzing complex legal issues involving justification defenses and the lawful use of force. Andrew is known for developing strategic legal arguments tailored to the unique facts of each case while holding prosecutors and law enforcement accountable to the constitutional protections afforded to every citizen.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Arizona State University's Barrett, The Honors College, graduating with honors and earning seven Dean's List recognitions. He also completed the Philosophy, Politics, and Law Certificate Program, where he studied constitutional principles, ethics, and legal philosophy while serving as a student mentor within the Honors College.

He received his Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where he was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Philosophy of Crime and Punishment. During law school, Andrew served as a Certified Limited Practice Student and Legal Research Specialist, gaining hands-on experience in hundreds of criminal and civil matters before graduating.

Andrew is admitted to practice in Arizona and Hawaiʻi, as well as the United States District Courts for both states. He practices nationwide in self-defense cases through pro hac vice admission and coordination with our network of local counsel throughout the United States. He has been featured by national media outlets for his work on high-profile self-defense cases and is a frequent speaker at legal seminars, firearms training events, educational conferences, and podcasts discussing self-defense law, constitutional rights, and the criminal justice system.

Outside the courtroom, Andrew enjoys hiking, backpacking, and exploring the outdoors. He is also an accomplished pianist and keyboard player who performed with several bands. When he's not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children and his English bulldog.
