Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2009.

Probation issued in AZ, 2009

updated on 03/22/2016

Probation means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State monitors the lawyer's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Charles’s comment:

“The "discipline" was for a case that I angered a prosecutor on. The prosecutor complained and the State Bar demanded a copy of my fee agreement with my client. Prior to this "discipline" I never had written fee agreements with clients. I had always used handshake agreements, believing that if you can't trust your attorney without a written agreement, what good is your attorney? In any event I was disciplined for not having a written fee agreement. The client never complained.”

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline
This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2009
Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
