Straight forward, compassionate and concerned about the children in my cases. Family law should not be about "winning," but should be about making sure that everyone's needs are met.

family attorney

Suzette has helped in representing me to enforce child support and has also represented me in a child support modification. Suzette is very knowledgeable and has plenty of experience. I plan on asking her to represent me again in another family court issue. She guides you through the process and expl...ains the whole process and next steps. She does not beat around the bush and gets to the core of the situation. She is direct and straight to the point.

Unprofessional

Suzie is terribly unprofessional and prefers to argue. Things will be drug out. I’m not sure she understands the processes but definitely happy to file and keep things aligned with her getting paid. I discovered several billing issues as well

Demeaning, disorganized, judgemental

Initially I thought she was intimidating, but fantastic; however, as my case dragged on, I learned that's not the case at all. In my case there are several real issues that shouldn't be overlooked, but time and time again I was told that if I addressed them, the judge would look down on me. Instead o...f questioning why things were or were not done a certain way, the blame always fell on me in some way, despite me doing everything I was told. Often, she would agree with a decision of mine, only to later tell me that she was "concerned" that I made that choice. The same choice she agreed was right! She was extremely disorganized, forgetting important details of my case, including requesting documents that I could not get, and later claiming I never told her. With her, it was constant flip flopping, misinformation, and a lack of communication. When I did speak to her, it resulted in an argument, after she once again denied receiving or giving information. It got to the point where friends and family encouraged me to discontinue using her for representation and to keep communication through email as often as possible so I had her initial responses documented for the next time she claimed "that didn't happen". Often times she would tell me I said one thing, when I didn't, she would make assumptions, or claim I didn't provide something that I had emailed her. At one point, after telling her I would do what she suggests even though I disagreed, she said, "I don't care. It doesn't impact me." She's right. It doesn't, but she had no problem accepting payment! She never listened to my concerns, no matter how well documented they were. Once she decides something about you or the case, that's the way it is. Finally, when I told her I retained someone else, after telling me that a judge is going to look down on me if she drops the case (because apparently they look down on you for literally everything), instead of going on with her life, she wanted his information, which I provided. I had no reason not to, although I'm sure she thought I was lying. I've never met such a judgemental, threatening, biased, demeaning, and disorganized person before. Like I said earlier, once she forms an opinion on you and the case, she'll quit fighting for you, even if you have all your claims documented. Of course, those emails always ended up lost or dismissed. I used to recommend her, but now I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. I had started seeking and interviewing a new attorney long before she threatened to drop the case, so this isn't from a place of bitterness. The best possible solution was to part ways. That I, and everyone in my life, agree with. My dissatisfaction started long before that, and she had a way of blaming me, arguing, and refusing to even acknowledge my issues. You can't speak to someone who doesn't care and thinks they are right 100% of the time.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
