Rachel Hansen

Rachel Hansen is an experienced family law attorney who represents clients through some of the most difficult and deeply personal circumstances they may face. Her practice encompasses a broad range of family law matters, including establishment actions, divorce with and without children, post-decree modifications, enforcement and contempt actions, and Orders of Protection.

A significant focus of Rachel’s practice has been advocating for victims of domestic violence. She has extensive experience representing individuals affected by domestic abuse, physical and otherwise, and understands the complex intersection between domestic violence, family law, criminal law, and child-related matters. Rachel is passionate about helping clients navigate the legal system with strength and clarity, advocating for the protections they need while helping them move from victimization toward safety, stability, and survivorship.

Before focusing her practice on family law, Rachel served as a prosecutor, where her work concentrated on domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, and juvenile cases. That experience provided her with a strong foundation in handling sensitive, high-conflict cases involving abuse, trauma, and the safety of children and families. Her prosecutorial background continues to inform her approach to family law, particularly in cases involving allegations of domestic violence and/or physical or sexual abuse, as well as, contested Orders of Protection.

Rachel’s perspective is also informed by her prior experience providing supervised visitation services for parents who have lost the right to unsupervised parenting time. Having worked with families in that setting, as a prosecutor, and now as a family law advocate, Rachel has had the opportunity to see family conflict and the legal system from multiple perspectives. This breadth of experience allows her to recognize the practical realities that often exist beyond the pleadings and courtroom and to approach complex cases with a nuanced understanding of the children, parents, and overlapping legal issues involved.

Rachel approaches each case with a combination of strategic advocacy, compassion, and practical problem-solving. She recognizes that no two families—or family law cases—are alike and works closely with her clients to understand their circumstances, priorities, and long-term goals. Whether a matter can be resolved through negotiation or requires contested litigation, Rachel is prepared to advocate vigorously for her clients.

Whenever possible, Rachel also focuses on creating durable solutions that will continue to work for a family long after their case has concluded. She takes particular care in crafting detailed agreements and proposed orders that anticipate potential areas of future conflict and provide clear guidance for the parties moving forward. Her goal is not simply to resolve the dispute in front of the court today, but to establish a framework that can evolve with the family and reduce the need for repeated litigation, ongoing attorney involvement, and frequent returns to court.

In addition to her domestic violence work, Rachel has substantial experience handling complex and highly contested family law matters involving parenting issues, financial disputes, enforcement of existing court orders, and post-decree litigation. She regularly appears in court on behalf of her clients and has litigated hundreds of contested matters throughout her career.

For Rachel, practicing family law is about more than resolving a legal dispute. She understands that the outcome of a family law case can shape a client’s life and family for years to come. Her goal is to ensure that her clients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout the process while providing the strong advocacy necessary to help them move forward into the next chapter of their lives.

Outside of the office, Rachel enjoys staying active, traveling, spending time with friends and family, snuggling with her cat and rabbits, playing intramural softball, reading, and exploring new restaurants.
