Biography
I am a former DUI and Major Felony prosecutor who has been zealously representing the clients of Thompson and Volquardsen for the last several years. I attended California Lutheran University where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. I then went on to earn a law degree from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1997. Since that time, I have gained extensive and valuable legal experience in the area of Criminal Law. In fact, I started the first 7 years of my career as a prosecutor. This experience included five years as a Deputy County Attorney with Maricopa County Attorney's Office, and two additional years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Arizona Attorney General's Office.
My five years as a prosecutor with the Maricopa Attorney's Office were served predominantly in the Major Crimes Division split between the Gang\Repetitive Offender Bureau and the Sex Crimes Bureau. During this time, I prosecuted thousands of cases and conducted an extremely large number of jury trials in cases ranging from DUI and drug cases, to very serious high profile sex crime cases and violent gang related shooting cases. As a result of this work and obtaining a near perfect 54 guilty verdicts out of 56 trials, I was honored to receive numerous recognition awards.
While serving as an Assistant Attorney General with the Arizona Attorney General's Office in the Drug Conspiracy Unit, I prosecuted hundreds of drug related cases ranging from drug possession, sales, and methamphetamine labs to extremely large, high profile, and multi-defendant drug trafficking rings and wire tap cases.
Finally, as a defense attorney I now use this vast experience as well as contacts with prosecutors and judges to obtain the absolute best possible results for my clients. I would compare these results to that of any other defense attorney without hesitation.
I am originally from San Diego, California, but have lived in Arizona for approximately fourteen years. I enjoy spending time with my wife and 7 year old son, Jack, enjoying such activities as sports, fishing trips, and being active in my church.

Highly recommended
Jim was a tremendous help to me in my DUI case. He was aggressive and communicative and managed to keep me relaxed and focused during a stressful trial. In the end he was able to use the facts of the case to paint a picture of reasonable doubt, leading to the jury returning a verdict of "Not Guilty"....
