I was in the worst kind of trouble possible. My very best friend and I are both veterans. I served in the Marines and he was an Army Ranger.  My friend asked me to hand him his gun which we both believed was not loaded. On July 20th, 2016 I was wrongfully arrested after being attacked by my ex-wife. She was currently enrolled in police academy for Phoenix Police. She used the knowledge she had learned about how to get someone arrested to have me taken into custody. I was charged with assault/injury and criminal dama...ge for her broken phone screen. That day I was served with an order of protection. My ex used the knowledge she learned in police training to use the courts as a weapon, instead of a shied as they are intended. The order of protection restricted me from my own home, which I owned sole and separate from the marriage. Upon my release from jail, I was stripped of all my rights. I was required to be monitored by the county and required special permission to leave Maricopa County. I lost my gun rights due to the order of protection as well as any further contact with my ex-wife. Bruce was top notch in my criminal case. After the first hearing, he had my monitoring and county travel restrictions removed and I was restricted to the state. The very next time he saw the judge, he had the state travel restrictions and all other restrictions removed pending trial. Bruce knew I wanted to travel for Christmas and made sure that right was returned to me. Susan, the office manager, is also the best. She answered every phone call and email. If they were busy with another case, I always got my call returned and what I needed taken care of. Susan is a Integral part of the team. I owe special thanks to her for the hours and hours of work she put in drafting documents and reviewing my case. Bruce and Susan paid close attention to every detail in my case. They reviewed every second of police body cam video, every piece of evidence, and created a outstanding defense. Susan created a very detailed timeline of the events of that morning showing only 1 minute for the alleged assault to take place. When we finally got to trail, Bruce gave a world class defense. I watched my ex lying (as a sworn police officer now) in a attempt to convict me. Under cross examination, Bruce impeached my ex's testimony and showed her as a liar. During trail, his team brought character witnesses to testify to my honest non-violent nature. They also brought witnesses to testify to my Ex's violent dishonest nature. We were faced with a young inexperienced prosecutor with a hot temper. I watched Bruce argue the rules of evidence with great confidence being able to site every rule by number and quoted verbatim. In short, Bruce knows criminal law by heart. The Judge denied our request to present witnesses of character. Bruce immediately stood up and motioned firmly that I was not being given a fair trial and the case should immediately be dismissed. The Judge denied Bruce's request. Bruce looked at me and said "No matter what happens today, I will have this overturned in an appeal because you are no longer receiving a fair trial." After 9 hours of trail, both parties rested. The judge that day ruled, based on the 38 years he spent as a police officer, My ex should have been arrested and been on trial that day. I was found not guilty on all counts. Bruce's 37 years of practicing criminal law proved invaluable that day. After months of worry, Bruce ensured that my life was protected and all of my rights were returned to me. Best attorney ever.
