Jennifer L Sellers

Jennifer L. Sellers is a Senior Member at The Cavanagh Law Firm, focused in the Employment, Labor, OSHA and Immigration practices.  She provides counseling in both the transactional and litigation arenas of employment & labor law.  She offers advice on hiring, employment contracts, covenants not to compete, severance agreements, employee manuals, compensation, benefits and terminations.

She also represents clients in a wide variety of employment litigation matters which involve discrimination issues, including sexual harassment and retaliation, Section 7 issues under the National Labor Relations Act (“NLRA”), wage and hour issues and leave issues involving the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (“USERRA”).  Her litigation experience includes agency practice.  In particular, she represents clients in front of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), the U.S. Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board, and the Arizona Department of Economic Services.

Ms. Sellers also handles issues involving the Affordable Health Care Act and addresses the changes and options it presents to companies.  Her Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage practice includes counseling and training on state and federal prevailing wages and benefits requirements, coverage and applicability of prevailing wage laws, coverage exemptions, worker classification and pay issues, addressing wage determinations, wage surveys, and representation of employers before the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division and similar state agencies.

She has particular experience in matters involving the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”). Her employment and labor background, as well as her Master of Science in Taxation, allows her to advise clients on both the IRS rules and the U.S. Department of Labor rules that govern ERISA plans.  She provides administrative counsel and advice to a wide variety of qualified plans including ESOP and 401(k) plans.

Ms. Sellers also works on merger-acquisition transactions.  She handles due diligence matters as they relate to benefit and employment issues.  Ms. Sellers has handled sales transactions that were in excess of $10 million.
