Justin exclusively handles child-related cases, representing children and parents in actions including co-parenting disputes, child abuse, false allegations of abuse, child protective orders, paternity, etc. Justin has represented clients in hundreds of court appearances and mediations, defending what is most important to them: their relationship with their children. Justin will always give his honest assessment and advice, not merely tell you what you want to hear.
Justin planned to become a Marriage and Family Therapist prior to going to law school. While attending Dixie State, Justin worked with children and youth at the Southwest Behavioral Health Center and then completed all the Marriage and Family Therapy Program pre-requisites at Utah State on his way to a major in Sociology and minor in Family and Human Development. Prior to graduation, Justin decided instead to go to law school, but kept his passion and interest in helping families.
Before returning home to Southern Utah in 2017, Justin worked for Moody Brown Law, Utah County’s top divorce and family law firm, since 2011. Justin loves living in Southern Utah with his wife and three children.

Crappy don't use if your kids are abused by father.
Justin Caplin asked my daughter to drop her protective order in exchange for supervised visits. The judge would have given her that if he saw the protective order. I saw the father beat the kids. Children had complained about father molesting them. This lawyer did nothing to help us. My daughter got ...
I always strive to provide the legal and personal guidance to my clients that will help them succeed in court and in their post-divorce life with their children. Sometimes people may not like my advice, sometimes they may not take my advice. The facts of every case require a deep and sensitive look at what is best in that situation, especially in cases involving protective orders. In reviewing protective orders and advising a course of action, I look at several factors, including 1) strength of evidence and likelihood of prevailing; 2) what is gained by the protective order; 3) duration of the orders within a protective order (for example, a typical child protective order against a parent remains in place for only 150 days); 4) whether there are alternatives that provide better outcomes or a longer duration of orders; 5) other factors depending on the type of protective order and the situation. I am not permitted to disclose confidential information about a particular case. However, this review is not accurate of results I’ve received during my involvement in any case. If you would like to discuss anything with me, please contact me at 435-674-6800.
