High-caliber lawyer

I truly feel grateful to have been represented by Steve Sumsion. You definitely want him on your side. Several months ago we found ourselves in a contractual dispute with a large billion dollar company. My husband and I felt like 2 small fish in a large corporate shark tank. We were threatened, haras...sed and we didn't think we had many options except to give into their demands. We found Sumsion Business Law based on their great reviews and extensive business and contract law expertise. It was the best decision we could have made!! We consulted with Steve and he gave us the confidence to fight back. He didn't let us settle for anything less than what was fair within the law and what we deserved! I don't know that we could have found an attorney anywhere close to the level that Steve is at; intelligent, ethical, empathetic, and truly passionate about law. We are very appreciative for everything Steve and his team have done for us!

Failure to adequately as advertised and promised.

On September 3, 2018, after doing research on a similar case to mine that Steve Sumsion (#8317), of Sumsion Business Law, LLC, argued before the Utah Court of Appeals, I contacted him via. email explaining my case and asking his help to represent me in a lower court case. Mr. Sumsion had his secreta...ry respond finally on October 24, 2018, stating that she had spoken with Mr. Sumsion and he said he is willing to help me on my case but will be out of the country in China for a month starting November 3rd. I sent Mr. Sumsion PDF copies of the entire case to date for review prior to leaving for his trip. Mr. Sumsion stated in a reply email of November 2nd that he would have his partner, a young and talented lawyer, handle the case in his absence. A hearing was scheduled for November 7th but was rescheduled while Mr. Sumsion was in China for December 19th which would allow Mr. Sumsion to appear. On December 11, 2018, I met with Mr. Sumsion and his partner who reviewed the case pleadings in detail. Mr. Sumsion stated that I had some "juicy stuff" and that the case looked good. I retained Mr. Sumsion for $2,000.00 to handle the December 19th hearing. On December 13th, six (6) days before hearing, Mr. Sumsion did an about face and suggested a settlement which terms I could not financially handle. That was the turning point in the business relationship. On December 17th, two (2) days before the hearing, Mr. Sumsion emailed me a "Conflict Acknowledgment and Waiver" wherein he disclosed that he had a personal relationship with opposing counsel and that his partner was currently listed as counsel in two (2) separate cases against one of the defendants in my case. On December 19, 2018, a hearing was held. Instead of Mr. Sumsion, the seasoned attorney handling my case, he turned it over to a "partner" that had less than three (3) years experience. The hearing was a disaster. The "partner" was unprepared and would shuffle papers, not look the judge in the eye, was timid and not the lion Mr. Sumsion said his young partner was. Opposing counsel roared in comparison to the scared mouse that my attorney was. Mr. Sumsion was back from China and should have handled the case himself instead of turning it over to his inexperienced and timid partner. Again, Mr. Sumsion's partner was not prepared and had no idea of what he was doing. My case was difficult but could have been presented much better with a seasoned attorney leading the charge instead of one with less than three (3) years experience and unprepared at best. Mr. Sumsion said he would handle the appeal in the Utah Court of Appeals for $20,000.00. Why would I pay him that amount and have him turn the case over to his inexperienced partner again? My warning to the public in this review is to stay away from Steve Sumsion and Sumsion Business Law. You will not be represented in the manner Mr. Sumsion claims he can.

An exceptional experience

We hired Steve to represent us recently in a case involving a property dispute with a neighboring business. From the get go, Steve was on the ball, assertive (without being aggressive) and left no stone unturned in his pursuit of our case. Within a remarkably short period of time Steve won the case f...or us. In addition to being a superb attorney, Steve is delightful to work with and is extraordinarily friendly and is possessed of a marvelous sense of humor. We just can’t say enough good about him! We consider Steve and his team to be not just wonderful attorneys, but our friends.
