Kim Buhler-Thomas has been practicing immigration law for over 20 years specializing in corporate and family immigration. Kim has years of experience in working with the Department of Homeland Security’s Citizenship & Immigration Services, the Department of Labor, U.S. consulates and embassies around the world as well as other state and federal agencies in order to obtain visas for her clients.
As an immigrant herself, Kim is committed to providing honest, thorough, and timely immigration services to successfully obtain various types of immigrant visas. Kim is passionate about immigrants because she is an immigrant. She represents both corporations and individuals as it relates to immigration issues. Kim considers herself "very type A" and is the mother of 8 children. Her children even call her a “tiger mom.” Kim adores her husband and subsists off diet coke. Kim has ran 29 half marathons but after marrying her husband has expanded her horizons to biking, swimming, skiing. She still does not consider golf a sport. Kim loves being a wife, mom, attorney, friend and neighbor.
Kim graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in International Relations with Chinese Language emphasis and a minor in Psychology in 1992. She resceived her J.D. from Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1995.

Highly recommend
We started the immigration process in November of 2013. Kim was the second immigration lawyer we had met with, and right away felt at ease with her knowledge and experience. Kim and her team made the daunting process easy. Her ability to make one feel as if they are her only client is rare. The abili...

My husband and I met with Kim back in December of 2013 right before Christmas. Just short of a month ago we had our immigration interview in SLC and my husband received his green card in the mail two weeks ago. This was a very foreign process for me and she made it so much easier. She walked me thr...

Would not recommend!
My fiance and I went to Kim for help and guidance with my fiance's immigration papers. Before we even went into her office, she was rudely barking orders to her assistant. Once we were in, she rushed us through our appointment and hastily told us what we needed to put together. She gave us the option...
I want to sincerely apologize for the experience you and your fiance had with me during your consultation. While I always try to be focused on each of my clients through all consultations, I must not have been at my best that day. I appreciate getting the review, however, because it allows me the opportunity to see where I can make improvements. We have put new policies in place at my office so that this will not be the experience of anyone in the future. In my 20 years of immigration practice, I have not ever sent in 8 passport pictures with a residency application so I'm not sure what your other attorney looked at. Every attorney, however, has their different styles so maybe that was the new lawyers preference. As for the Affidavit of Support issues, the regulations are very clear that if your fiance made $19,662 then he met the poverty rate. If he didn't make that amount then we would have had to multiply the difference by 3 and find those in assets or else get a joint sponsor. I sincerely regret that you had a negative experience at my office. If possible, I would like to make this up to you somehow. If you have another case in the future that you need assistance with (ie: removing conditions of residency in 2 years) I would be happy to meet with you at no cost to answer any questions that you might have. Please remind me of this message so that I give the free consultation promised here. Again, I sincerely apologize for the experience you had at my office, but thank you for your feedback. As stated above, this gives me a chance to improve and change some of my own - and our office's - policies.
