After graduating with his B.A. in economics from Brigham Young University in 1979, Richard Jones went on to receive his J.D. Law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law school at BYU in 1982. In 1983 Richard W. Jones began working as an attorney in Ogden for Helgesen, Houtz & Jones, formerly known as Helgesen, Waterfall & Jones, and continues to work for the same firm.
His practice is focused on Homeowner Associations, Condominium Associations and Real Estate Law. He enjoys helping these associations settle their disputes and conflicts outside of the courtroom whenever possible. He has been giving seminars every year since 1991.
He joined as a member of the American Inns of Court in 2001 and the Community Associations institute in 2009. Richard Jones is currently the president of the Utah Condominium and Homeowners Association and has been since 2004.
Rich and his wife reside in Davis County. They are the proud parents of 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl. His oldest son will be graduating from J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU in 2013 and will join the law firm as an attorney. Rich and his family have always enjoyed helping out others and have participated in humanitarian projects in Guatemala, Kenya and Peru. He says that these experiences are life changing. Apart from doing service, he enjoys sporting activities such as golf, baseball and watching all BYU sports.
