Michael Houtz graduated with a B.A. degree in European Studies in 1984. He then attended New York University where he graduated with a masters degree in French Studies in 1986. He then returned to BYU and received his J.D. Law degree in 1989. He served as Clerk for the Arizona court of appeals, then began working as an attorney for Helgesen, Houtz & Jones in 1991. He was made a partner for the law firm in 1996.
Michael Houtz is known as one of the best Social Security Disability Lawyers in the state of Utah. He has attained the reputation of winning almost all of his cases. Besides Social Security Disability, he also focuses his practice on Personal Injury, Wills & Trusts, Contracts, Agreements and Medical Malpractice. He also has experience in many Criminal Defense cases as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, and class action lawsuits.
He and his wife are the proud parents of five children, three girls and two boys. He enjoys spending time with his children when he's not at work. They enjoying traveling together.
He played baseball in college. Baseball continues to be his favorite sport. He and his family are avid New York Yankee Fans and they have attended many games at the Yankee Stadium in New York. He continues to stay in shape by competing in marathons. He has run 22 marathons, including the famous New York City Marathon.
