Worst attorney I have ever worked with

He didn't even know the details of the case when we went to court. Apparently didn't take notes or if he did he didn't refer to them before showing up. Did not do his job and then he slandered me

MR. DECEPTION!! DO NOT RECOMMEND ROY COLE!!!!!

I wish i could give 0 stars for Roy Cole!! What a crock of sh** this guy is!If you want an attorney that will testify against you after screwing you over in the first place, by all means! Roy Cole should be ashamed of himself let alone DIS-BARED! I don't even know how to express how disgusted i am. A...ttorney's are supposed to help people. He is the reason i'm becoming an attorney and i will do everything i can to rid the judicial system of people like Roy Cole. I do NOT recommend this slime ball nor would i to my worst enemy! SNAKE - IN - THE - GRASS!!!

What Plea Deal?

After paying Mr. Cole over $9000, he did not communicate a plea deal offered to me by the state. He made a decision not to accept the plea without even talking to me. Review of documents did not show any information on any plea deal offer. Mr. Cole spent no time discussing my case with me and when a...sked he just responded "we got this, don't worry" He will not respond to calls or provide me a breakdown of fees.

Lazy unproffesional dishonest and rude

This man was paid to do a simple visitaion case. The paperwork was not done correctly and had to make corrections. He neglected to follow through. Never did anything to get a court date or do the paperwork needed for the case. After 9 months of nothing done we had to fire him. He refused to give o...ur money back and said we only paid him 1/2 of what we did. I saved the reciept and am suing him for failure to do the work he was contracted and paid to do. He also changed staff 3 times in 9 months . Apparently he cant even keep anyone to work for him. He was very dishonest with us and now wants to keep our money. I sbould have checked him out 1st. I have since then looked into him and he has been repremanded by the board many times and has lots of negative comments on him and the way he does buisness.

Ever notice that people who leave hateful false comments almost always do it anonymously? Could it be that they are robots or just people trying to bring your profile down?

Hire me I'll send a Public Defender in my place

I hired Roy on a Thur for Court on Monday, Secretary (Sherry) charged me $500. Court came and Roy was a no show. I called to get a refund and was told he would refund me $200. Why you ask only $200 out of $500!! Good question. Roy said....wait for it...."I actually had another hearing and I had it s...et up with a public defender to appear in my place so I did do some work on it". I could of set up a Public defender for free.

Thats a bit of a short cut through the truth. But I am still sorry you were dissatisfied. I was out of town when she took the case and she failed to follow through with a continuance. As for the Public Defender, he was a friend and agreed to appear in my place and get it continued to a date when I could be there, I spent 2 hours getting familiar with the case, entering the appropriate docs and making sure his case was covered. When we spoke you seemed to be of the opinion that it would only require one hearing and be done, which was not the case and never would be the case. I am sorry you are dissatisfied and Sherry has been re-trained on what to do in situations such as yours.

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2022.

Probation issued in UT, 2022

Probation means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State monitors the lawyer's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

updated on 11/17/2021

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Roy’s comment:

“This was a part of three cases I handled as a young attorney under direction of a more senior attorney and I got caught up in a situation he knew was unethical and I believed him. It was my own fault.”

Roy’s comment:

“This was a part of three cases I handled as a young attorney under the direction of a more senior attorney and I got caught up in the situation he knew was unethical and I believed him. It was own fault for being more vigilant, after he died I aided the bar in the investigation and we found that he had taken lots of money from clients and that I had not received anything I should not have.”

Reciprocal - Public Reprimand issued in UT, 2007

updated on 10/24/2016

This means that the attorney's misconduct in another state, or jurisdiction, also violated the rules for practicing law in Utah.

Roy’s comment:

“This was the first of three cases I got caught up in as a young attorney back in 2002 where I was acting under a senior attorney who knew he was being unethical but did not case and I believed him without doing any research into the matter. I should have looked into it, my fault for not looking into it.”
