Tenley is a patent attorney, registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
After completing undergraduate studies in biochemistry at Bowdoin College, Tenley performed research in several multidisciplinary laboratories, developing expertise in protein catalysts, and molecular biology techniques and practices.
In law school, she was a Note and Comment Editor of the Utah Law Review, a Quinney research fellow for Dean Adler, and an intern for Chief Justice Matthew Durrant of the Utah Supreme Court. She also served as a Biomedical Law and Innovation Center Fellow, where she helped medical students secure intellectual property in their inventions.
