I had some issues come up in life that I never thought I'd have to deal with from a legal perspective and when I consulted with Darwin about my situation his knowledge and expertise were a relief. We hired Darwin Overson to handle two cases for us.. He was referred by people who had dealt with Darwin in the past. The first case was handled last week with excellent results. I was falsely accused of a sex crime and Darwin Overson saved me. Thank you Darwin for saving my sanity! I recently received a very vague and generic Summons from the Juvenile Court informing me that my son was being charged with several serious misdemeanors and that he would need to appear before a Judge. After speaking with his case worker, I found out that ...he was being accused of orchestrating and single handedly executing a criminal act involving a mailbox and some explosives, legally bought at a local fireworks stand. After discussing the matter with my son, there were several aspects to his case that the Court or investigators had missed entirely which, if taken into consideration, would have negated the charges against him, or at the very least, greatly lessened the severity. The case worker tried to convince me that it was in my sons best interest to take a plea, pay a hefty fine, completing some significant community service hours and on top of that he would be on probation until he turned 18. One of my biggest concerns, was how these charges could impact my sons life down the road and I got the distinct feeling that the Court was more interested in receiving the hefty fine rather than the truth or the best interests of my son. I contacted Darwin on the recommendation of a friend. After meeting with my son and getting all the facts, Darwin was able to get the whole matter dismissed in a matter of a few weeks. He was always available to answer my questions, which more importantly calmed my anxieties. He was patient and kind with my son who was completely comfortable with and confident in Darwin. “He is really easy to talk to Mom”, "He is really a cool guy Mom". I appreciated Darwin’s honest and direct approach to our situation. He did not “candy coat” anything and kept me up to date on everything at all times. Although, I’m sure, the charges against my son were minor in comparison to many of his other clients, they were huge to my son and I. Darwin devoted his time, talents and best efforts to help us. I know that Darwin genuinely cares about his clients and I witnessed and felt this through our experience. Knock on wood, I won’t ever have the need to hire a criminal defense attorney again…. but if that need does arise, Darwin will be the first person I call.
