He was a good attorney then...

Dan was my overseeing counsel for almost two years on a active “child custody case ”. He walked with me step by step through a tricky custody battle. Before his original firm (Open Legal Service) went out of business I went in to consult with him back in March of 2018 about a issue with the current p...arentage case and I remember while talking about the issue he showed me something pertaining to my case and I glanced at the screen, but noticed next to my name and case number the new firm transfer said “maybe”. I should’ve listened to my first mind; from April-June communication with Dan was scarce, I received two responses from Dan one on March 9th stating “he was going to remain as counsel on my case” and the second was on May 11th and that email stated he was “Neck deep in a report, and would get back to me by the coming weekend.” Weekend’s came and went and finally after countless emails and messages on June 5th I called into Non profit Legal Services again to hopefully speak to Dan; the receptionist answered and she was going to transfer me over since Dan was in the office. Well instead of taking my call Dan gave his client of almost two years a message from the receptionist saying “I’m putting in the withdrawal papers as we speak, and a email will be sent over shortly confirming that” I was shocked. I never knew there was an issue with the client/attorney relationship that couldn’t be spoken about. Dan was a pretty good attorney until he switched up on me at the end. Hopefully this review aids you to the right decision when choosing a family law attorney.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Dan is an excellent attorney. His knowledge of family law is top notch and he is an excellent advocate. Dan does an amazing job representing parents in custody cases, but where he truly shines is representing children as their Guardian ad Litem. I have referred clients to Dan in the past knowing they will be well represented, and will continue to do so."

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. Dan served as a private guardian ad litem in a contentious divorce case in which I represented one of the parties. I was impressed with Dan's kind temperament and cooperative approach in working with me and his clients, the children. I believe that Dan would be sympathetic and congenial in interacting with children, opposing counsel, and you, as a client. Taking this approach tends to resolve cases more quickly, because parties are more likely to settle their disputes. Although a relatively young lawyer, Dan has a commitment to helping others in the family law arena, and takes his client's legal matters very seriously."

"I recently represented a client at a hearing where Mr. Spencer was the opposing attorney. We were able to discuss complicated issues in reasonable terms and have communication that will help move the case along."
