Had high hopes....
We signed on with Ms. Cueva at Highbee & Associates to handle our same sex marriage based greencard. I am a US citizen and my husband is Mexican. Everything started off pretty well, we were kept informed and information was flowing between us and her team. Halfway through our case Isabel Cueva left ...
Dear James, When I left my previous firm this was one of my greatest fears, that my past clients would not be well represented in my absence. When I found out I was leaving the firm, I did everything in my power to make sure of a smooth transition. Even though time did not permit me to call every one of my clients to personally let them know I was leaving, I did go through each and every case to make sure I left everything in good standing. I was the supervising attorney assigned to your case, and Ms. Shi was the attorney assigned to work on your actual case. I did review your file before I left and everything looked as it should. I was not aware that Ms. Shi would also leave the firm shortly after I did. From what I understand, your cases was left with Ms. Hernandez. What I can tell you is that a denial of an I-601A is not given because of a mere mistake on the forms, but rather, because there was not enough evidence submitted to demonstrate the U.S. citizen spouse would suffer extreme hardship. An approval is strongly tied to the supporting documents submitted: a well written psychological evaluation, medical documents, a well written statement from both the U.S. citizen spouse and the intending immigrant, letters of support, financial statements, etc. I hope you understand it is easy for a firm or attorney to place blame on someone who is no longer there who cannot defend themselves. I am very passionate about doing a stand-up job for all of my clients. Although I did not want to leave my clients in the middle of their case, unfortunately, I had no choice in the matter. If your attorney relationship has ended with H&A, I invite you to email me personally and I would be happy to review the denial letter and see how I can help. Again, I am truly sorry about the outcome of your case, and how your case was handled after I left the firm.

Recommend Ms. Cueva with no reservations
I married my same sex Mexican born spouse in January of 2013. At that time he had been in the U.S.A. on a student visa that had expired nearly 10 years ago. Later in 2013, when the Defense of Marriage Act was declared unconstitutional I began looking for an immigration attorney on the internet. I ...
