Biography
Kate Conyers is a trial attorney at Conyers & Nix PC. In the past ten years, she has successfully handled over a thousand criminal defense and DUI cases—from simple misdemeanors such as drug possession and domestic violence to serious felonies such as aggravated assault, auto theft, drug distribution, robbery, and sex offenses. Before joining private practice, Ms. Conyers served as a public defender at Salt Lake Legal Defenders.
Ms. Conyers is the Immediate Past President of the Women Lawyers of Utah (WLU) and she serves on the boards of the Salt Lake County Bar Association, Utah Center for Legal Inclusion, YWCA of Utah, and Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. She also serves as a Small Claims Judge Pro Tempore and as a mentor to young lawyers through the Utah State Bar. Ms. Conyers is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College at Mercer School of Law, Macon, Georgia.
Ms Conyers has been recognized by Legal Elite in Criminal Law, 2014-2017. She was awarded the Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service and the Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Utah State Bar. In 2014, Ms. Conyers received the Pro Bono Publico Young Lawyer of the Year Award and the Scott M. Matheson Award for the American Voter Project on behalf of the Young Lawyers Division. Most recently, in 2018, Ms. Conyers received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the University of Utah.
