Tamara A. Fackrell is a law partner at Fackrell & McLean Law and has been an attorney-mediator for over twenty-five years. She has been a practicing attorney since 1998. She has mediated over 4,000 cases. To distinguish herself as an attorney-mediator, Tamara spent five years receiving her Ph.D. in Marriage, Family, and Human Development with a focus on research in parenting, marriage, divorce and children of divorce. Tamara developed curriculums and taught in character education for over fifteen years in the juvenile jails and mainstream schools. Tamara has been the keynote speaker for many international and national conferences and workshops. She was a law professor for fourteen years at the J. Reuben Clark Law School. She is the author of over twenty-five books and a myriad of articles including a guide for divorcing couples utilized by the Utah Commission on Marriage.
Tamara was appointed by the Utah Legislature to serve on the Utah Commission for Marriage. She has also served on the Advisory Committee to the Judicial Council and also has been a primary trainer in Mediation qualifying mediators for the State of Utah since 1999. She was on the Founding Board of the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution and Community Mediation Center. She has served as the UCCR Symposium Chairperson for two years, and on the Association for Conflict Resolution Proposal Committee. She helped to initiate the Victim Offender Mediation Program in the Fourth District Juvenile Court and began the mediation programs at Utah Valley University and the undergraduate mediation program at Brigham Young University and the Schooley Mediation Program at the J. Reuben Clark Law School.
Tamara received the Outstanding Service Award from the Juvenile Justice Services and the Slate Canyon Center in 2004, 2005, 2008 as well as the Cowley Chapter Phi Alpha Delta Professor of the Year in 2006 from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Tamara was also named the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution Philanthropist of the Year 2011 and Utah’s Top Attorney Legal Elite in 2016 and 2022, and 2024. Tamara is currently serving on Utah Commission on Marriage and also helped to create and update the Divorce Education Course for the State of Utah. Tamara’s passion project with her Character Education Heroes Book Series focuses on teaching children the six different styles of communication and how to integrate positive problem solving, communication skills, and empowering values in their lives. Tamara has six children. Her pastimes include traveling, Ragnar races, and composing music.
