Suspension Partially Stayed Placed on Probation issued in CO, 2007
updated on 03/28/2017
Suspension partially stayed means the attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. When the attorney returns to practice he or she will be on probation, meaning the State monitors the attorney's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior
Alan's comment: “There is no excuse for violating a rule of ethics. Soon after I became a lawyer I went into business with a client - a client who I helped a lot. before starting the business, a lawyer must provide the client with a letter advising the client to seek independent counsel and more. He had independent counsel on this business but that did not relieve me of my obligation to provide the letter. I admitted my mistake immediately and took my sanction. What a learning experience it was.”
