Joel Fry attended the University of Texas in Austin for his undergraduate degree and Texas Tech University School of law.  He graduated with honors from both schools.

 

At Texas Tech he was a member of the Law Review and Board of Barristers and won the award for Best Oral Argument at the 1981 Moot Court Competition sponsered by the American College of Trial lawyers.

 

Joel Fry practiced in El Paso, Texas for 17 years with the law firms of Kemp, Smith, Duncan & Hammond and Moreno & Fry.

 

Since moving to Durango, Colorado in 1999 Mr. Fry has concentrated on criminal defense.

 

Mr. Fry has handled more than 2500 cases in his career and has tried more than 200 trials to jury verdict.

Review of Joel Fry
Excellent advice & guidance on criminal case. Negotiated with District Attorney to get case dismissed. Very good at explaining legal issues and strategy. Made sure all court dates & times were kept by providing reminders and notification of changes. Patient and used understandable language rather than jargon.

We were charged (wrongfully) with a criminal offense. In our first meeting with Joel, he listened carefully to us, asked all of the right questions, and obviously understood the relevant legal issues. We agreed to hire him at that first meeting. Thanks to Joel's legal competence & his knowledge of the system, (and the facts of the case), the case was dismissed before we had to enter a plea in court. Without Joel's help, we were lost in a system that made no sense to us. He gave us exactly the help that we needed. While I hope never to be in a situation like this again, if I ever am, I will not hesitate to call Joel Fry.

DUI
Joel was awesome. So thorough and found a mistake on state troopers forms such that here was a revision to the DUI and taken off my record. I would highly recommend him

Supportive and informative
Joel was very informative and thorough during my case, even when I had way to get to court he made arrangements for a ride for me as. Even though my case is over he still offered further support should something change after the fact
