First, I want to say I would not have an "Iron Clad" parenting plan that protects my son's interest if it weren't for Lori. She saved my son from becoming another statistic in a broken system that allows mothers to push fathers out of their children's life. Now that I have praised her...she was able to layout an enforceable parenting plan while my son is out of state to the point where the Judge ruled in our favor and it is practically 50/50. As a result there is no child support payments which we use to fly my son down to visit every holiday, every vacation, every 3 day weekend, and every summer. Truly a blessing and Avery gets the best of all her hard work. She understands what needs to get done and is not afraid to do so one bit. I connected with Ms Barkus several months ago regarding my pending case. My case is what you might call a "high temperature" case. I don't get along with my ex, barely speak to her, and she has made my life utterly miserable. When I went to Lori I felt I had nobody else to turn to. It turns out I did...n't need anyone else. She has put me at ease, earned my confidence and has managed the other side in the process, lowering the temperature at least a bit. Ms Barkus is a pleasure to work with. She doesn't make outlandish promises but tells you the truth. I found her to be extremely honest-says what she means, means what she says. While I've found other attorneys in this field to be condescending and aloof, Ms Barkus is neither. She's quite the opposite. Very down to earth. On a skill set level, clearly her best lawyering involves negotiating. She tells you right up front this is about negotiating, not winning. I found that to be refreshing and honest. Judges and opposing counsel clearly respect her, I've seen that firsthand. As a client in a bad situation, you feel like you're putting your life in your family lawyer's hands. I feel very comfortable having done that with Ms Barkus. She doesn't over react to adversarial nonsense and has put me (a high maintenance client) at ease. My outcome so far has been good and I have the utmost confidence that things will proceed along the same path. I would recommend Ms Barkus to anyone going through the brutal process of divorce.
