Biography
Leslie Shafer has represented clients in complex matters, including divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, guardianships, protection orders, interstate jurisdiction disputes, adoptions, probate litigation and will disputes. Known for her strategic advocacy, practical counsel, and a client-centered approach, Leslie combines litigation experience with compassionate representation to guide clients through some of life’s most challenging legal situations.
Prior to joining Peakstone Law Group, Leslie Shafer invested much of her career in learning every aspect of advocacy. She has served as a Municipal Court Judge in Kansas, a city prosecutor, an Office of Dispute Resolution Mediator for Pueblo County, practiced in oil and gas, civil litigation, real estate partitions, warrant service, non-compete enforcement, jury trials, ethical and malpractice compliance, and is a published and cited author on human trafficking legislation. She has practiced and represented clients in domestic matters that spanned between states, nations, and Native American tribes. Leslie has also advised and educated other state and country attorneys on interstate jurisdiction law and child support modifications.

Most cases have weaknesses and our job is to protect our clients’ interests while also being realistic and making sure to identify issues within each case. That requires frank conversations and sometimes things clients don’t want to hear or refuse to accept. When clients request it, we'll make sure the case is reviewed carefully and a full explanation is provided as to all legal strategy recommendations provided to a client. This is an emotional area of law where the stakes are high. We utilize experts when necessary, we work efficiently, and we take pride in our service to both our clients and our community.
