Maren Jori Skulborstad

Bottom line- you can’t go wrong with Ms. Maren Skulborstad. She is positively the best. Why do I say this? I’ve hired Maren on three separate occasions to help with establishing a permanent parenting plan, defend requests to change the plan and most recently to enforce payment of child support and... collect back child support. On every occasion Maren conducted herself professionally - not just with me- but with the opposing counsel as well. (Unlike many of her peers, Maren’s integrity is impeccable. She is well respected by the judges.) Maren usually thought of more than one way to approach my cases and would present each option to me with her recommendation, then give me the final choice of which direction I wanted to go. She has never steered me wrong. Furthermore- in every situation- Maren has had my child’s best interest in mind. This, to me, is the most important. Often in a divorce, emotions lead to poor decisions… Maren ensured emotions didn’t take over. It’s true- there were times when in a particular moment I may not have liked something Maren had to tell me… but that’s one of the things I loved about Maren. She always told me the truth- whether it was how the judge would perceive my case or how the law is written. She always told me straight and in lay person language. On one occasion I thought I’d save money by using a different attorney - and hired someone other than Maren. What a nightmare! Not only did the other attorney take FOREVER to respond to emails (Maren is prompt and communicates the status of your case regularly) - but it was clear that even after 20yrs this other atty did not have as strong of a command of family law as Maren. She lost me thousands of dollars and cost me even more. (I ended up hiring Maren to come in and clean up “the mess” as best she could.) Why hire Maren? She has integrity. She positively knows law. She will work incredibly hard for you. She does the job right the first time- and doesn’t draw things out. She is passionate about law… and even more passionate about families. Truly- I will never hire a different attorney again.

I retained Maren to handle my real estate transaction. I made an offer that was accepted. I later learned the seller accepted a second offer within 3 mins of accepting mine. The seller wanted to brush me off and go away. In the end, Maren was successful in resolving the messy, time sensitive tran...saction without going to court. I got the house of my dreams!
