Mr. Margrave is a sole practitioner whose practice emphasizes consumer bankruptcy and business law and litigation, including foreclosure defense, and general practice matters.
Mr. Margrave received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Philosophy from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs in 1978. He was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu scholastic honor society and the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Mr. Margrave obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1982 from the Colorado University School of Law in Boulder, Colorado, where he was a Staff Editor of the Law Review and a Moot Court Competition Semi-Finalist, and engaged in a fellowship as an adjunct instructor, teaching a course on research, analysis, and writing style. He also served as a Junior Law Clerk to Colorado Supreme Court Justice William H. Erickson. Mr. Margrave published an article entitled, Implied Warranties in the Sale of Real Estate in Colorado: Rational Boundaries of the Doctrine, 53 U. COLO. L. REV. 137 (1982), which was awarded the Courtland H. Peterson Award.
Following law school, Mr. Margrave clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Alfred A. Arraj for one year. Mr. Margrave was admitted to practice in Colorado in 1982, and was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the Tenth Circuit in 1983.
Mr. Margrave prosecuted traffic, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony cases including homicides for the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office for four years. He has worked in private practice with law firms or in sole practice, for approximately twenty-eight years in a wide variety of general practice areas.
Mr. Margrave is a member of the Colorado and El Paso County Bar Associations and the American Inns of Court.
Mr. Margrave has conducted seminars and written publications on foreclosure defense, construction and landlord-tenant law.
