Daniel A. West

I would recommend Dan West to anyone going through a divorce and dealing with custody issues. He has advocated for me and the wellbeing of my infant son. Dan helped me, as a breastfeeding mother, get appropriate parenting time with my son. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a gut instinct about h...ow to proceed in complicated cases. His presence and delivery in the court room alleviated so much anxiety. He is straight forward in his approach and knows how to communicate your needs both to the opposing side and infront of the judge. I appreciate his ethics and high standard to fight for what is right and fair. His efforts have really come through for me. Dan and his staff have provided me with peace in a time of so much turmoil.

I also had a very bad experience with Dan. I wish I would have done my homework before hiring him to represent me in my divorce. By the time I finally figured out how bad he really was, I had already paid him more than $15,000 and I didn't have the resources to drop him and start over again with so...meone else. I completely agree with the comments from one of the other reviews, my experience with Dan was that he was unorganized, disrespectful, dishonest, difficult to communicate with, and simply put, just a very bad attorney. In the end, my opinion of him was that he was only interested in taking as much of my family's net worth as he could possibly get his hands on. When I shared my frustrations regarding his unwillingness to fight for me (and my children), he dropped me as a client. It appears by the other reviews that this is a recurring thing that he does. I wish someone would have warned me about him before I hired him to represent me. AVOID THIS ATTORNEY.

Dan represented me and from the beginning was extremely unorganized, disrespectful to his office staff and rude. He presented himself to be a very strong attorney in court and that's why I initially tried to look past his poor first impression. Dan ended up being an attorney that was difficult to com...municate with, difficult to get answers from and left me clueless as to what was going on with my case. He ignored emails which resulted in me having to send multiple emails to him and his paralegal. He would rarely respond but when I received my bill each month, I noticed that he was charging me for those emails he had ignored. In court, Dan was asked to provide the Judge certain documents by a certain date. Dan never did and that resulted in part of my motion being thrown out. Along with the motion being thrown out, the thousands of dollars I spent having Dan prepare for the motion was gone. Dan said "don't worry about the money" and assured me he would refund me the portion of the money that went toward the motion that was thrown out due to him not submitting the documents in time to the Judge. Dan never refunded me my money and stopped answering any emails about it. Dan was also asked by the Judge to draft final orders in my case and submit them to the court. He never did and withdrew from my case without submitting final orders. This left me with only bulky transcripts that have to be sifted through every time someone needs to know what the final orders were. During a telephone call with Dan, he exploded into a screaming rage, cursing and yelling and using the *F word more times than I can count. This was right in the middle of my case and at a time when I needed representation the most. I would never recommend Dan to anyone under any circumstances and question how he is even able to practice law.

Dan West is AWESOME! I highly respect him for the fact that he's 100% honest and up front, never giving us any false hope. He keeps our feet on the ground and doesn't present us with expectations of something he's not absolutely sure of. He is an aggressive, honest, hard core, tell it like it is kind... of guy and in my opinion, there's no better quality in an attorney. Sure, just like most attorneys, his rates are a little high, but the quality of work and results are 150% worth the price. Other attorneys charge the same rates, but pad their hours, don't maintain constant contact with their clients, and don't produce the same results as Dan. Going into our contempt case, Dan was very honest with us that it wasn't black and white, and based on the evidence, it wasn't a sure win, yet Dan took over that courtroom and his confidence, and blatant, tell-it-like-it-is demeanor, turned our case into not only a win, but an absolute GLORIOUS VICTORY! We got more than we were asking for, and we owe it all to Dan! And let's not forget about his fantastic staff! Just like support staff is crucial in any office environment, the same goes for an attorney needing a GOOD paralegal. Melanie is just that to Dan. She is friendly, honest, responsive, organized, and always follows through with what she says she's going to do. So I have to HIGHLY recommend Dan West and his staff to anyone who is in need of an AMAZING Family Law attorney. He's well worth the money!
