A Lawyer that works for you and ensures you understand what is going on, leaving you feeling confident and comfortable.

Kathryn Tolison has enabled me to have my 50% input and time with my son. She helped me get the parenting time and child support adjusted, allowing me to be the father in my son's life that he needs. She has helped get the parenting plan adjusted to where there is no question or reason for disagree...ment between the parents. Every communication with Kathryn leaves me with a full understanding of what was/is going on and the confidence to know what is being done is in the best interest of my son. She communicates with me in terms that I can understand and that makes me feel comfortable with the whole legal process. Kathryn is very straight forward and doesn't give me false hope, she gives me the facts and helps me understand the legal end of the parenting process in the courts. Kathryn always makes time to respond to emails, even on the weekends and after hours. She fits me into her schedule when needed. She leaves me with the feeling that I am not in this alone, that I actually have her by my side in the process. I have worked with Kathryn for over 2 years now and I anticipate keeping this relationship for the duration of my time where I will need legal support to uphold my rights as the father to my son. If you are looking for a Lawyer that will help you thru the process and to understand the process then Kathryn should be someone you contact. I know I could have never made the changes for my son without the legal system and having someone like Kathryn to navigate the process has proven to be the best decision I could have ever made for my son and my family.

Unbelievably warm and personal while being lawyer

Ms. Tolison has handled a very difficult case involving parental rights and responsibilities for us. Many people have been involved, and many government agencies. Ms. Tolison and her staff have kept everyone aware of the major issues relevant to this case, even when information was supposed to be ...shared across agency. We really needed her expertise. While she has been very caring and warm with us, when necessary she has been very firm in the courtroom. She and her staff manage to keep up on a legal system that does not share important information accurately and/or easily.

Professional and Fair

Kathryn Tolison was a breath of fresh air through this entire process. She was not only compassionate with concerning questions but she truly cared for everyone involved in our case. A restraining order to dispute and a marriage of 13 years to be ended. We had 3 beautiful boys together a ton of de...bt to split, financial concerns and parenting time to figure out. I was completely prepared and calm when the time came to face the music. Kathryn is an amazing lady that is absolutely wonderful at her job!! I would recommend her to anyone have any kind of family disputes or legal action needed. I'm very thankful and blessed to have her in my corner representing me! Thank you,

Always missing something

Katie was a very nice person but when it came time to handling my case she often missed details that ended up causing a lot of money and turmoil. I asked for a first right of refusal to be added to my parenting plan but it didn't get added. This should be an easy standard addition. She recommended ...using a PRE in which case she told me I would front the money and the other party would cover half once the process was over. I ended up covering the entire process which cost over 15k. Had I known that, I would have never put my daughters or myself through this awful process. I would highly recommend doing your research for an attorney that will meet your needs. If you need something basic and easy you might be able to use Katie; anything more complex I would consider searching for someone else.

I sure am sorry you declined to provide your name so I could properly respond to your review. First of all, if you had a Parenting Plan, that means that you were given time and an opportunity to review and approve YOUR agreement and ask any questions or propose any edits to same. Only agreed upon terms are drafted into a Parenting Plan. A right of first refusal is not something that can be forced upon the other parent and if there was not an agreement to include a right of first refusal, that is likely why it was not included. Regarding the PRE fees, you choose not to mention that you were advised that it is not a guarantee that a court will reallocate expert fees, or that the other party will agree to pay a portion of the fees-it is only that it is a possibility that the fees will be reallocated. We never, ever make promises regarding the reimbursement of expert fees. I'm sorry if the Court determined that you should be responsible for the entire cost. My team and I handle extremely complex litigation and if we settled your case, resulting in a Parenting Plan, your case was probably not complex. I am sorry that you are now regretting your decision to agree to the terms that were in the Parenting Plan. Best of luck going forward for you and your girls.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
