Richard Edward Kraemer

I hired Mr Kraemer after paid consultations with 2 other attorneys. Mr Kraemer assured me he wouldn’t let me be taken advantage of or harassed by my husband. My then-husband and I lived together for 3 years before we married, and were married for a year and a half. Mr Kraemer ignored this fact in ou...r financial divorce settlement. He listened to my ex-husband’s attorney with more respect than he gave me. I had been going regularly to a women’s safe house for advice and advocacy due to extreme emotional and verbal abuse, and financial and domestic labor control by my husband. One day my then-husband’s divorce attorney called Mr. Kraemer and told him I had said something unkind to my husband. Mr Kraemer called me and harassed me for half an hour about abusing my husband, without asking or telling me anything about what my husband’s attorney had specifically told him. After 15 minutes of this I told Mr Kraemer that what he was saying was upsetting me very much and that I needed to say goodbye. He wouldn’t quit harassing me, but went on for another 15 minutes until I repeated myself and said goodbye and hung up. I went to another attorney and paid for a consultation about Mr Kraemer and all his lack of support and lack of attention to my details, and this upsetting way he was treating me on time I was paying him for. I hoped this second attorney could take my case and I could stop knowing Mr Kraemer. I intended to keep his name confidential but the 2nd attorney insisted on knowing his name. Upon disclosure of his name the 2nd attorney said that Mr Kraemer was very personable but that he would never want Mr Kraemer as his attorney if he were getting a divorce. Lawyer # 2 advised me to stay with Mr Kraemer since I had already paid him a large amount and it would be too costly to switch now. I believe the truth may have been that the 2nd attorney did not want to embarrass Mr Kraemer as they both work in the same small city of Fort Collins and same court and law community. It was evident that Mr Kraemer found out that I had gone to another attorney for advice about his representation and treatment of me the next time I saw him. He never apologized for harassing me to tears and distress on the phone. I never received a split of the large amount of community material assets that my Ex and I acquired during our 4.5 years of living together and of marriage due to lack of concern, expertise, attention and time that Mr Kraemer gave to me as my divorce attorney. Mr Kraemer never gave me information about getting a legal assessment of the increase in value of my husband’s separate real estate until too late in the divorce process. The property was assessed at $75,000 more than when we were first living together as man and wife, but by the time I managed to get that assessment I doubted Mr Kraemer’s abilities so much so that I gave up on being awarded half of that legal entitlement. I requested an itemized Bill and Mr Kraemer agreed to give me one. I never received one. Mr Kraemer was more concerned about getting a large payment for his ‘work’ for me than helping me.

Mr. Kraemer's calm demeanor, knowledge, experience, and skill helped me stay calm as I went through a year-long divorce, which included going to trial, expert witnesses, testimony, etc. Mr. Kraemer kept me informed of each divorce stage/step and was extremely responsive when I emailed or called hi...m. We tried several times to try to settle before it went to trial to no avail. He represented me extremely well during the divorce trial and gave me tips beforehand (e.g., look at the judge when answering questions from either lawyer). Tips that the opposing lawyer didn't tell his client. During the trial, Mr. Kraemer was respectful but firm and was a strong leader. I was proud to have him as my lawyer. Although there are no real winners in a divorce, my case went as well as I could have expected and Mr. Kraemer did a great job. I hope I don't ever need a lawyer again, but I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
