My name is James Colgan. I began my legal career as a police officer. I worked as a deputy sheriff and a police officer for nearly five years. I then traveled out of Colorado to attend law school. I knew immediately that litigation and trial work was the area where I wanted to spend my career. I have been a trial lawyer since graduating from law school. I have successfully advocated for victims of serious crimes and conducted numerous trials as a Chief Deputy District Attorney. The trials I conducted ranged from DUI to child victim crimes to sexual assault to homicide.
When I moved on from the District Attorney’s Office, I had to decide whether I wanted to represent individuals or corporations. I realized that I am passionate about representing individuals so I currently represent the victims of someone else’s intentional actions or negligence in personal injury matters. In addition, I represent people accused of committing crimes. I have trial experience that is rare to find. I have tried numerous jury trials as a prosecutor, as Plaintiffs’ counsel in personal injury trials, and as a criminal defense attorney. I am as comfortable in a courtroom as any lawyer you will find.
In my spare time, I judge mock trials for college and highschool students throughout the U.S.

Best outcome
James was a great lawyer on my case. He stayed on top of my issues and gave me the best defense and best outcome out of a terrible situation. He fought for me and continued to stick by be through each hurdle. I couldn't have asked for better hands to be in.
It was an honor and a privilege to help you get the train back on the track.

Successful Contract Dispute Resolution
We contacted James on the recommendation of another lawyer. He was genuinely interested in the details and took time to listen to our concerns. He was responsive to our communications. He resolved the issue quickly and efficiently.
Thank you for the positive comments. I am glad I could help you avoid that mess thrust upon you.

The situation ended with a best-case scenario. Up front flat fee for representation. A huge plus.
James is a fine legal representative for criminal defense. Based upon his years of experience he will be able to tell you pretty much what you can expect at the outset. He will be honest with you about what you can expect as an outcome given the particulars of your unique circumstances. He charges a ...
