James Paul Colgan

I was in a 4 car accident on I-25 about 4 years ago. I had written this review previously and cannot find it anywhere online anymore, so I am rewriting it to warn people in hopes that others don't have a similar awful legal experience, being represented by James Colgan. I was recommended to Ramos Law... by a coworker and was assured my girlfriend and I would be well taken care of. Dr. Ramos seemed nice and sincere but after a short consultation with him, our case was passed off to one of his associates; Jim Colgan. Everything started off okay and he seemed like he would take good care of our case. After the first couple weeks things started going downhill quickly. Jim became very difficult to get in contact with and we were left in the dark for weeks at a time with no word from him on the status of our case. I received a ticket in the accident for following too closely and was sure to let his paralegal know about it when discussing the accident. I was told "Don't worry, we will take care of that." After a few months with little communication with Jim I received a letter from the Denver court system informing me that my license would be revoked and that there was a warrant out for my arrest for not appearing in court. I immediately began to freak out about my license potentially being revoked so I called Jim to ask what exactly was going on. When I finally got a hold of him I asked if he had taken care of the ticket from the accident, like his paralegal told me he would, he replied with "What ticket?" I was so disappointed that they had let this fall through the cracks, but was assured by Jim that everything would be fine, he would come with me to the police station to pay my $100 bond to get this whole situation handled. When I met him at the police station he barely said sorry for their mistake and just assured this would be no big deal once we pay the bond. The woman at the front desk of the Denver Police Department was brand new and was clearly confused on what she was doing. Instead of processing my bond and getting it taken care of, I was put into general intake where I was put out in the waiting area where I sat for hours until I was fingerprinted, made to change into a inmate jumpsuit and was thrown into a jail cell with a withdrawing heroin addict as a cell mate. Because of their incompetence I spent a miserable night in jail over a $100 bond...When I was finally released from jail the next day I was furious and immediately fired Jim Colgan from handling my case. This was literally the worst legal experience of my life and I could not imagine that someone with a law degree could be this lazy and incompetent. Not only was there hardly any communication from him, but he also waited MONTHS before interviewing the other drivers from the accident to get their testimonies. He was clearly looking to do as little amount of work possible, settle out of court and get a easy paycheck. I cant reiterate enough to STAY AWAY FROM THIS LAWYER, he is only concerned with his wallet.
