Nothing short of amazing

My biggest regret is not choosing Patricia A. Riley for my intial divorce case. This time around, I was fortunate enough to work with Patricia and her team, and the difference was night and day. From the outset, they were incredibly upfront, knowledgeable, and professional. Communication was seamles...s throughout the process, and they excelled at exploring all possible options to ensure the best outcome for my case. Patricia and her team’s dedication to their clients is evident in everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone needing tough, compassionate, and expert legal representation.

Hands down best attorney

We came to her having spent over 12000 dollars on a fight seeming to go nowhere. Always dissatisfied with the lack of effort on our previous attorneys part. I felt hopeless, and like we were feeding into a never ending money put with no results. Finding Patricia changed everything, and we immediately... felt back on track. She is quick to respond, never leaves us out of attorney client conversations, and is just flat out amazing. My husband's ex wife is always trying to break every rule while not even letting my husband have what he's entitled to. Having Patricia has made following the court orders the only option, which negates any conflict in the "grey zones". I highly recommend her. I can honestly say if you don't like her as an attorney you are probably the dreadful client who is after more than they are entitled to.

Worked for us

Patricia helped our son through a difficult divorce/bankruptcy/child support process. She guided us through the myriad of hearings and filings associated with parental rights and child support issues. She is always professional and prepared for court hearings and does an excellent job of keeping u...s informed of current status.

Look Elsewhere

If you go into Patricia's office, you may find yourself feeling uncomfortable with a decision she has made. You will hear a phrase such as: "This is just standard procedure, completely normal." Trust your gut. She will not work for you, she will do as she sees fit. She will talk over you. If you want... someone who will truly work for you, look elsewhere. I asked her not to have my ex served. She had my ex served at work. I was aiming for parenting rights, not to humiliate the parent of my child. I asked her to be as civil as possible, and she was quite rude. Find someone with good reviews on Yelp, here, and superlawyers.com. Do your research. Talk to a minimum of 3 lawyers before choosing one. Please consider your impression of their ethical standards. Ask them questions that will reveal their character. Remember that you will have to maintain a relationship with the other custodian of your child/children for a long time. In a literal sense, it will be a lifetime. You can't undo damage inflicted during this process. If you are reading this, I understand that this is an emotional time. You must get a grip and force yourself to think logically and with the future in mind. Remember that it is hard to see the picture when you are in the frame. I achieved marginal success with Patricia, and had a horrible experience overall. I later received good, strategic advice to achieve my goals. Patricia told me my goals were virtually hopeless, and I foolishly believed her. Don't ever let a lawyer do this to you. They're supposed to be your advocate. Patricia won't even make an attempt if your ideas contradict the paradigm she has created in her mind. I did not write this to bash Patricia. She has a good sense of humor and is a decent human being. When it comes to being a lawyer however, she is marginal at best. Do you want to lean into a marginal performer when it comes to your child? I am writing this with the hope that you will not endure the same mistake I did. My suggestion to Patricia (as I know she will read this), quoting Gretsky, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." My ex's lawyer pulled the strings, had emergency hearings, etc. When I suggested similar strategy to Patricia I was shut down. Patricia missed a key phone conference that cost me overnights for 3 months. I will never get that time with my child back which is unacceptable. How would you like paying $280/hr while your lawyer cleaned up her mistake? ***** To the reader, please consider this further evidence: Notice that the other reviews here are posted the same day (10/16/2015). Also, they are posted on her personal website. Given these facts, who do you suppose posted these 5 star reviews? If you're reading this and they are gone, it is likely she read this review and took them down. I include the date of the reviews here so you can make the call yourself. Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"How refreshing! A lawyer who actually understands the virtues of respect and honesty when negotiating the most important aspects of people's lives: their children, their homes, and their financial future. It would be a mistake to confuse her niceness with a lack of tenacity. She is tough, fair and ethical. The best."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
