Hired for DUI not guilt plea - a very bad decision

I hired Greg Daniel’s for a trial on A DUI I refuse to blow and plead not guilty. He went in the initial pre-trial agreement without counselling me on what was encompassed. Mr. Daniel’s told me that pre-trail was like babysitting. This could not be further from the truth. Pretrial basically stri...ps you of every privilege you have to support your family while preparing for trail. I had a prior that was a days short of 10 year with circumstances which would have weighed heavily on the court but Mr. Daniel’s did not even address this with me. He flippantly mentioned he was wrong about the date by a short time period. Once on pretrial I was issued a warrant for diluted UA’s without my knowledge. No paperwork or explanation of what causes a dilute was address and he did nothing to protect me here. The judge put an ankle monitor on me. (Remember I still am not guilty) to learn no I am not drinking alcohol. This affected my income in which I lost a major account. 10 months later Mr. Daniels still would not take my case to trial. The judge said I could work out of town and Mr. Daniels did not help me cover all of my needs to address the pre-trail issues. Another warrant was issued for me without my knowledge. He asked for an expert witness not guiding me on how to obtain one. I gave him one, but the man was old a senile and ha memory problems. Then he wanted me to make the witness appear. I could not do that. He then asked for documentation I could not readily produce. 3 weeks prior to trail he told me he was asking for a continuance. He told me this multiple time in email and text. Then he said I must show up at the minute when I was sick. I gave him my doctors note to which he wanted more evidence. In my opinion Mr. Daniel’s was the worse attorney I could have hired to help me through a very devastating ordeal where I did not understand the laws or penalties as I a not a natively from Colorado. Today he dropped because I owed a $40 fee to the courts and no show for a court date to be continued. First of all I’ve tried to pay 2 times, but they will not take cash or credit card. The pretrial people told me not to worry about the $40 and pay it anytime.

My client here had a second DUI in Jefferson County. There, they will put you on pre-trial no matter what. She violated those rules the first time in several ways (not just dilutes) and then violated again by not giving any UAs. It is unfortunate that she had to move to Texas to support her family but we secured permission from the Court for her to do so. I told her (as did the Court and pre-trial) that she still had to comply with pre-trial. She is right that I did not find a place in Texas for her to do that and I did leave that to her but I told her that. She did not and they issued a no bond warrant for her. Then she did not show up for her jury trial (the doctors notes she gave me did not excuse her attendance in court and were for very minor issues). She is in a tough spot. She had moved to Texas and though we were moving to continue the trial (because her witness was not competent and we needed a witness to combat the government), she had to show up and I told her so many times. I feel terrible for her and I did all I could for her (Got her out after her first pre-trial violation, got her permission to move to Texas, prepared and appeared for trial) but ultimately she is unhappy. She did not do much to help herself. At the Daniels Law Firm, we always do all we can and we did that here. She is confused for sure because $40 is generally to clear an OJW and that was never an issue for her. I never want any client to be unhappy. This is what I do and I take it very seriously. Communication is critical in any relationship and here, despite many emails and text messages, somehow there was a disconnect between us. That is not typical.

Unbelievably Dependable

I was accused of a crime that threatened my reputation, my freedom, and my professional role when an embittered adolescent with social-emotional needs falsely accused me of physical assault. Having had very limited exposure to criminal proceedings previously, I had no idea what to expect and was, to ...say the least, terrified. Mr. Daniels was more than trustworthy, knowledgeable, and responsive, he was real. He provided me with the insight I required to maintain my sanity during an incredibly difficult time in my life. Though he had much larger cases than mine, I only discovered this through happenstance and otherwise would never have known I wasn't the most important he had ever had. I was acquitted of all wrongdoing, and that was fantastic, but what Mr. Daniels provided was more than a just outcome. He provided a sense of well-being when I need it most. Thanks, Greg.

"I endorse this lawyer. I met him when we worked together as public defenders and he always got excellent results. He takes his cases seriously and works diligently to get the best result possible for his client. He is never afraid of going trial and when he does, he has fantastic appeal with a jury. He has won cases that I was shocked could be won by anyone! In fact, I was so impressed with him as a whole, I married him. I no longer work directly with him, but I am proud of the lawyer that he is and would never hesitate to send anyone with ANY criminal issue to him - in fact I do so quite often."
