Kristen Frost is a trial attorney who represents individuals in various jurisdictions, primarily state and federal courts in Colorado and Illinois. Prior to joining Ridley, McGreevy & Winocur, Ms. Frost practiced law as a Colorado State Public Defender in the Jefferson County trial office where she represented indigent clients charged with all kinds of felonies and misdemeanors.
Before practicing law in Colorado, Ms. Frost practiced criminal defense litigation in Chicago, Illinois, with the Law Offices of William P. Murphy where she handled a variety of serious matters in federal, state and municipal courts. Ms. Frost has argued before the Illinois Appellate Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago. She has also represented individuals before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board where she composed petitions and argued on behalf of those seeking executive clemency from the Office of the Governor of Illinois.
In addition to her trial practice, Ms. Frost represents individuals whose cases are on appeal and has briefed matters before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has filed a writ of certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States. Ms. Frost has appealed County Court convictions in both Jefferson and Adams Counties in Colorado and has handled administrative appeals.
During law school, Ms. Frost was an editor for the DePaul Journal of Art & Entertainment Law, a Sullivan Fellow for the International Institute of Human Rights Law at DePaul University College of Law, worked as an extern in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and studied for a semester in Ireland through the international exchange program at the University of College Dublin.
Immediately after law school, Ms. Frost pursued a fellowship in international criminal law and human rights in Siracusa, Italy, at the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences. She has used this experience to assist law students at the University of Colorado law school who participate in international law moot court competitions.
Ms. Frost has extensively studied both Italian and French.
